The Kiss

Carlina sat up in one of the trees on Kashyyk looking around for any driods, her hair was matted with dirt and grim but she refused to leave knowing that Tech was laying on a hospital bed injured."You going to come down?"She heard Hunter ask from the forest floor, sighing she climbed down."You really should take a shower General, your starting to stink."She smiled and simply nodded."Hey, it's not your fault that Tech got hurt. He'll be fine.""It was my fault, as General it is my duty to protect my crew and I didnt.""There is nothing you could have done Carlina, you know it is also our duty to protect you."She knew he was right but that didnt help make her feel any less guilty, Hunter nodded and walked away. Soon she climbed back up into the tree and sat on the branch, taking out a knife she started to sharpen a stick. When she had quite a few made she started to throw them down into the dirt below, she heard someone climb up and sit down next to her,"Is it everyones duty to get me to feel less guilty today?"She asked not looking at the tall sniper who had sat down next to her, she saw him scooch over slightly,"I didn't know women could stink so bad."Crosshair said pinching his nose, she rolled her eyes and kept on throwing sticks into the ground."I'll shower later.""Right, because your going to leave your perch any time soon."He snarked biting down on his toothpick, he saw her look at him and smile."Fine, how about I go take one now. Just to prove you wrong.""You have a deal."Standing they started to desend when one of the branches snapped causing the two of them to fall. Carlina landed on the ground perfectly and caught Crosshair in her arms, opening his eyes he looked up into Carlina's eyes and blushed."I uh..Thanks."Setting him down she brushed herself off and smiled,"Of course. Maybe next time dont make us fall to our deaths.""Sorry, not my fault that you were distracting me."He said earning him a light punch to his shoulder, once they were back at the compound he watched as she headed to her room. He leaned against the wall and waited she soon emerged wearing a pair of black baggie pants, a black and red crop top and her hair was dry."You shower fast.""Eh, kind of cheat. Useing the force to dry my hair comes in handy."he watched as she started to walk away, her hips swayed with each step she took. Her hair bouncing off her shoulders, he couldnt but help that with each step she took the very ground trembled. She was different from regular Jedi, she walked with purpose, with power. her aura was clear to that on their missions, it was as if her very being commanded attention. Shaking his head he followed after her, they soon reached the dining room. Tech was typing on his data pad, Wrecker was shoving food into his mouth and Hunter was leaning back in his chair his feet propped on the table, walking behind him she picked up one of his boots and set it down."Dont put your feet on the table Hunter, it's rude.""Chewie said I could."He said now glareing at her,"I dont care what Chewie said, it's rude and impolite so for the time being keep your feet off the table.""Yes mom."He said folding his arms across his chest like a pouting toddler, they all looked at Hunter with raised eyebrows."What?""You know she isnt our mother."Tech stated typing some more info on his data pad, Carlina rolled her eyes and sat down."Well she sure acts like it."Hunter mumbled, Crosshair chuckled lightly and took a seat next to Carlina. Food was placed in front of the two, they said their thanks and dug in, Carlina didnt realize just how hungry she was. Looking at Tech she saw the outlines of his bandages that criss crossed his chest."How are your wounds healing?"She asked looking down at her food,"They are healing nicely, I'll be cleared for duty this afternoon."He said not looking up from the pad in his hands,"Good."Hunter could tell that she was still tense but had relaxed, when the two had finished eating she got up."Ready for our next mission?"She asked gleaming at them, they all turned confused. Bringing out a holo pad she brought up an image of a sepertist base,"This base is on Kashyyk is one the Sepertists are useing, master Yoda has instructed that we go in and destroy it. It's the best chance this base has in not falling into Sepertists hands."She said watching the boys reaction, Wrecker grinned"Does this mean we get to blow stuff up?"Carlina smiled,"You beleive it does.""When do we leave?""Tonight."The mission was a sucess to some degree, Wrecker had tripped and had accidentally hit the detination button. Carlina leaped over the falling debri, force pushing Hunter out of the way of a falling beam. She watched as she gradually fell behind, She was about to dodge a peice of metal when she felt a crushing weight fall onto her foot, yelping out in pain she fell to the ground."General what is your status?"When Hunter did not hear from her he turned and saw her on the ground struggleing to free herself. They all started to run back when they felt themselves being propelled back, the enterance was blocked. Cursing they watched in horror as the building caught fire."Hunter we need to get to the General."Tech said shoving his data pad into his pack,"Wrecker get us an opening."He placed a small explosive near the enterance taking cover he blasted a hole. Placeing their masks over their faces they entered, Crosshair saw her arm out of the rubble, racing over he checked her pulse,"We have a pulse.""Wrecker get this rubble off of her."They worked fast when she was free Wrecker flung her over his shoulder, they looked around knowing that the rest of the building was soon to fall, running they exited the building and ran as fast as they could disapearing into the trees they stopped to catch their breath. Putting the General down Crosshair took off her helmet, Tech did a quick scan."She has a mild concussion and a fractured ankle, I suggest we get her back to the base to get medical care."Carlina groaned making Crosshair pick her up, when they reached the base she was taken to one of the medical rooms where a medical droid started to take care of her, they waited outside for what seemed like hours before Yoda appeared,"A speedy recovery she shall make, go. Be with your friend."Entering the room they saw that Carlina was sitting up in bed, a bacta pad was placed on her head and ankle. She smiled and waved to them,"Why did you push us?""If I didnt you all would have been hurt. Couldnt save me if you were hurt.""This is true, it would have been ilogical, therefore she did it fulling knowing we would come back to save her."Carlina chuckled and stood, Crosshair caught her."You really should be resting General."tech said looking at her,"You should know by now I do not rest even when injured."Slipping on a white robe she walked out of the room, sitting at the table she sighed."I for one am starving, how about we eat."Wrecker plopped down in one of the seats and grinned, "Your the best General.""I'm the only General you've had."She said taking a bite of fruit rolling her eyes,"Yeah, and we wouldnt trade you with anyone else."Hunter said patting her on the back, they ate in silence till Carlina snuck a look at Wrecker and Crosshair, useing the force she snuck some apple sauce behind wrecker, then let the bowl drop. Crosshair choked on his water, Hunter gasped and Tech continued to type onto his data pad. Wrecker looked at Carlina and pointed his finger at her,"Thats cheating.""I litteraly have no idea what your talking about."She said winking at Crosshair, at that moment Wrecker threw a bowl at her, catching it with the force she turned it back on him. They watched as the sauce dripped down Wreckers face,"Dont get into food fights with Jedi."She smirked, Crosshair helped his brother out a little. Snaking his arm behind her chair she dumped his bowl onto her head,Carlina looked at Crosshair and flicked some onto his face, they laughed. Cleaning up the mess they headed to their own rooms for the rest of the night, Carlina washed the apple sauce out of her hair. Leaning back on the cold wall she let her mind wonder, she had a feeling that the war was almost over, and yet she couldnt help but feel a little uneasy about the future. She knew that the others would be sleeping so she would take some time to train and workout. Dressing in her robes she headed to the training room, when she flipped on the light she saw Crosshair sitting in the center, he looked like he was meditating."Crosshair, what are you doing?""I've seen how you and General Yoda meditate and i've found it soothing. Although it's useally Yoda who joins me.""How long have you been doing this?"She asked sitting in front of him,"A few months. I was having a hard time sleeping and one night I was wondering the halls when General Yoda invited me to meditate with him, I was sceptical at first but there was something about the way he calmly spoke and eased my mind that made me relax in a way. I've been doing it ever since, guess your the one I get to do it with tonight."She smiled and took a deep breath, "Perhaps you would like to do this in the gardens. It's much more peaceful.""I would like to do that."he said, taking his hand they stood. The night air was slightly chilly, Crosshair shivered slightly. Carlina looked at him,"You'll warm up soon enough.""Thanks, thats touching."She ignored his sarcasm and found a spot, sitting she crossed her legs and closed her eyes. She sensed that Crosshair had taken a seat and was concentrating. Carlina could feel the force around her, it was entoxicating calming, soothing. When she opened her eyes she saw Crosshair looking at her,"There is something you wish to talk about?""Your so bueatiful when your like this. You look so happy."He said blushing slightly, raising an eyebrow she saw him scootch closer. Their knees were touching, "Has anyone heard how Echo is doing?"She asked closing her eyes again,"According to Wrecker he has a hard time sleeping as well, General Yoda has offered assistance to help out. But he'll need some time to heal."He said not breaking concentration from her face,"I see, Crosshair what ever happens in the future I want you to know that I have had feelings for you from the moment I met you."He was slightly taken aback but quickly regained his composure,"Do you really mean that?"She opened her eyes and looked at him, shifting so she was on her knees she cupped his face. He leaned forward and their lips connected, Crosshair pressed closer deepening the kiss. When they pulled apart Carlina touched her lips,"Was I good?"Crosshair asked fidgeting with his long fingers,"You were amazing, how was I?"He smiled and pulled her into his lap,"You were amamzing as well Mesh'la." They stared at each other for a little while longer,"Look back on the last mission. I'm sorry I know I was out of line, I just hate working with regs.""I know."Carlina whispered breaking her gaze, he started to laugh,"Whats so funny?""Just keep thinking of the time you threatened to break the Captains teeth!"She laughed and leaned into his form, wrapping his arms around her he kissed the top of her head."What does this mean?"He whispered looking at her,"I'm not really sure, but I think its a start to something amazing Ramser.""Ramser?""A little nickname.""Heh, I like it."Up on the balcony Hunter looked at Wrecker,"Fork it up Sargent."Grumbling Tech, Echo and Hunter forked over the credits."Who knew, good job Crosshair."Echo said smiling down at the two,"So tell me Echo how do you know the General?"Hunter asked turning to the clone,"General Windu came to the graduation, she was with him. She was in her teens then but she was bueatiful none the less, fives tried to hit on her. To no luck, we assisted in some missions but when she lost her left eye that was the last time i saw her. Thought that she had been banished to do book work turns out she was knighted to grey jedi and shipped off to a planet to live her days as a guardian. Rex and I would stop occasionaly and she saw us once in a while.""I see. Well as a grey jedi she can do whatever she wants. As for Crosshair well things just got a whole lot more difficult."The next morning Carlina awoke to the sun filtering in, groaning she started to roll over when she felt someone next to her. Remembering the events of last night she pulled the blanket around her naked form more tightly,"Good morning Mesh'la.""Morning Ramser.""I had a good time last night."He kissed her and got up, pulling on his breifs then blacks he winked at her. She smiled and pulled on her blacks then armour, they soon joined the rest at the breakfast table,"You two have fun last night?"Hunter asked looking at them."We didnt do anything.""Please Carlina, I could smell the hormones a mile away.""Yeah."Wrecker said pounding the table with his fist,"Carlina, we are soldiers. If anyone found out about this he will be tortured or worse."The two looked at each other, she squared her shoulders."That wont happen, if they are going to hurt him they'll have to go through me."Sitting down she balled her fists up, Tech looked over and sighed,"The fact remains, we are not bred for love. We are bred for war, we do not even know what our fates will be after the war."They sat in solem silence only to be broken by a familar voice,"I see that you are being treated well General."Carlina spun so hard in her chair that it tipped over, everyone laughed as she stood at attention,"Obi Wan?"He laughed, "May i borrow her for a second?"
"Of course General."

Hunter said looking at Carlina, she sighed and stood, following him out into the forest they soon reached the river, "Why are you here Master?"
"Just here for a supply drop off, my men could use a small break before our next mission."

"I see, the last time it was on Anaxis nearly thirty rotations ago."
"Has it really been that long? Time seems to go by so much faster."
Obi Wan commented sitting down on a rock, she sat down next to him watching as he took a deep breath,

"I sometimes forget just how peaceful this place can be." Carlina nodded her head, "It's better than the sounds of war that's for sure." He nodded his head in agreement, "Master Yoda told me about your little stunt with the Sepertists base. The counsel wasn't all to pleased but couldn't argue with the results."

"I was just doing what anyone would do. Except without the whole regulation thing." "I can see, I think putting you with this squad was the best choice we ever made. You guys have really grown into a family unit, even that Crosshair fellow seems to have gotten much more comfortable around you."
Carlina laughed lightly, "He's still a pain in the ass but yes. Even he has started to give me more respect." Obi Wan smiled, "I still can't believe I lost the bet. Had to fork over nearly five hundred credits to Wrecker!" Carlina whipped her head around, "Don't worry your secret is safe with me. You don't follow the Jedi order code, you have your own codes. You've always been a wild spirit, it's why you were able to bond so well with others. Mace Windu won't admit it but he sees you as his daughter in a way, we all do."

Carlina smiled letting her hair fall over her shoulders, standing she stretched. "I have enjoyed your company Master, perhaps you would like to have some time alone." "Alone time? Master Storm, being alone makes me jumpy and when I'm jumpy I get cranky. No i'll find company with my crew. You go and spend time with that handsome sniper of yours." Carlina giggled and ran off, Obi Wan's heart soared. She deserved to happy, and he for one was going to do everything in his power to make sure that she would continue to stay happy.
