"Execute order 66." Three small words and the whold world seemed to stop, Carlina slid to a stop when she heard a million voices scream out through the force. Gasping she turned on her heel, she watched in horror as the Clones turned on Master Billaba. Drawing her sabers she and Caleb started to run back to aid their friend, she turned and held out a hand. "Carlina, Caleb you must run." She grunted in pain as a bullet grazed her side, "RUN!" Carlina deactivated her sabers, grabbing Calebs wrist she started to run into the woods. Master Billaba's screams echoed in her mind, tears started to roll down her face as the growing hole in her chest grew. She could hear footfalls behind her, stopping she looked Caleb in the eyes. "Go, I'll hold them off." "I'm not leaving you." "Caleb, I am giving you an order. You need to run and hide, do not come back for me." He choked on his sobs, she shoved him away from her. Igniting her sabers she heard him run off, hiding behind a tree she watched as Hunter and Crosshair slid to a stop. "Their near." Poking her head out she saw Crosshair aim his barrel right at her, Jumping out she felt the bullet graze her shoulder. Yelling she leaped onto Crosshair knocking the sniper out of his hands, she wrestled him down to the ground. "Crosshair, what is wrong with you? Snap out of it." He threw her off of him, she landed with a thud her mask breaking at the eye. "Good soldiers follow orders." He calmly stated, her eyes grew wide with fear as he pointed his blaster at her. She heard a yell from behind her, "Don't!" Hunter yelled but it was already too late, Caleb had knocked Crosshair into a tree rendering him useless for the time being. Getting up she grabbed one of her sabers, "Caleb stay behind me." "Carlina please listen to me." Hunter pleaded taking a step forward, "Stay back Sargent." She growled, he held his hands up. "We aren't here to hurt you." "That's a lie, Crosshair just tried to kill me. Do you really think I'm that stupid to believe a word you say?" He took off his helmet, "Carlina, come with us and lets get this all sorted out." "I can't do that Hunter." She then kicked him in the chest sending him flying, when he looked up he noticed they were gone. Getting up he rushed after them, he soon reached a raveine. Carlina and Caleb turned, he took his blaster off of him and threw it to the ground. "Stay back Hunter, or I will jump." "Please Carlina just hear me out." Caleb glared at him, "You killed her." "I didn't kill her, the others did. I'm just as confused as you two are." He stepped closer, this made Caleb jump back slightly. Carlina had to grab his arm to prevent him from falling off the edge of the cliff. "Stay back, stay back." Caleb shouted, "I can help both of you but only if you come with me." Carlina bit her lip, she could see that he was being sincere but she knew looks could be deceving. A fresh wave of tears rolled down her face, "I want to believe you Hunter I really do. But I can't." Walking up to him she placed a hand on his chest plate, she started to sob. "Master stay away from him." Caleb shouted, she ignored him. "When you find the boys tell them I love them. And tell them I'm sorry."
"Carlina Wait!" Running she grabbed Caleb's hand and she jumped, "No!" Pulling Caleb to her chest she felt her feet hit solid ground, she lost her footing and stumbled forward. Getting up she took one last look at Hunter before rushing off into the woods.
The snow fell softly all around the two, the breeze kissed the tree tops ever so lightly. Carlina and Caleb had slowed to a walk, each one exhausted after the whole ordeal. Caleb shivered, taking her cloak off she wrapped it around his shoulders. "Thank you Master Storm." "I told Mater Billaba that I would keep you safe, and I intend to do that." She said coldly, he saw her take off the mask and clip it onto her belt. He bit his lip, "Are you going to be alright Master?" "I'll be fine, for now lets just find shelter for the night. A storm is moving in." "I know of a cave just a few miles from here, we'll be safe there." She followed him, by the time they reached the cave night had fallen across the land. Gathering some firewood they made camp for the night, Caleb sat down and warmed his hands. He noticed how Carlina stood at the enterance of the cave keeping watch, "They won't find us here. It's remote and out of their search radar, and if Hunter didn't rat us out we would already be dead.""I'm not worried about that." "Then what are you worried about?" He asked, "I'm worried about my friend." "Captain Turner?" "So you've heard of her?" "Everyone's heard of Captain Turner, if she's anything I've heard she'll be fine. I hear she's stronger than Master Yoda!" Carlina smiled, "I appreciate you trying to cheer me up kid but I'm afraid there's nothing right now that can ease the pain or fear." He nodded in understandment, turning she folded her arms. "How are you holding up?" "As best as I can." "If you need to cry don't be afraid to." His smile faltered and some tears escaped unchecked. Carlina walked over and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, she did her best to comfort the teenager as he greived for his fallen master. After a while his tears slowed, wiping his tears from his cheeks she let him go. "What do we do now?" "We do what we have to do." "And whats that?" She stared out at the falling snow, "We survive, we live, we face our new challenges head on and we never look back."
