Chapter 13

Tanushree felt a week had flown by, and she found herself surprisingly happy living with her in-laws. They showered her with love and adoration, making her feel like a cherished member of the family. Despite the absence of her husband, she cherished the warmth of her new family.

One day, Tanushree approached her mother-in-law with a wish. "Maa, I'm missing my parents. I would like to stay with them for a few days," she said softly.

"Of course, bacche. I understand. I'll arrange a car for you, and we have some gifts for your parents. Make sure to carry them too," her mother-in-law replied warmly, understanding Tanushree's longing to be with her parents.

As Tanushree's car rolled down the familiar streets towards her parents' home, she found herself lost in thought, staring out of the window. Memories of their reception party flooded her mind, and she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness at her husband's absence.

"Maa, papa!" Tanushree exclaimed as she entered her parents' house. Her mother was busy chopping beans in the kitchen, while her father was kneading the dough nearby. The comforting sight of her parents brought a smile to Tanushree's face.

Tanushree rushed into her father's embrace, her eyes sparkling with joy. "Papa, I missed you a lot!" she exclaimed, squeezing him tightly. Her father returned the hug affectionately, a warm smile spreading across his face.

Her mother, who was busy with her cooking, turned around with a playful pout. "Of course, you missed only your father. Mummy ko kon yaad rakhta hai?" she said, pretending to be hurt.

Tanushree immediately released her father and hurried over to her mother, enveloping her in a tight hug. "No, maa, I missed you a lot as well," she said earnestly, planting a kiss on her mother's cheek.

As Tanushree sat down at the dining table, the tantalising aroma of kandhari paneer filled the air, her favourite dish. Her father lovingly served her a generous portion, insisting she try it first.

"Here, beta, have some kandhari paneer. It's your favourite," he said with a warm smile, holding out a spoonful of the creamy dish.

Tanushree eagerly accepted the spoonful, savouring the familiar flavours. "Mmm, it's delicious, Papa," she exclaimed, her taste buds dancing with delight.

Her mother, bustling around the kitchen, joined them at the table, curious about her daughter's new life. "So, how are your in-laws treating you, Tanu? Are they taking care of you?" she asked, concern evident in her voice.

Tanushree nodded, her mouth full of paneer. "Yes, Maa, they're treating me very well. Everyone is so kind and loving," she replied between bites.

Her father beamed with pride as he watched her enjoy the meal. "That's good to hear, beta. We were worried about you," he said, patting her hand affectionately.

As the doorbell rang late into the night, Tanushree and her mother were nestled in the cosy comfort of their home, engrossed in an old movie. Her father's footsteps echoed as he went to answer the door, breaking the serene ambiance of the room.

"Who could it be at such a late hour?" her father pondered aloud, his voice carrying into the room where Tanushree and her mother sat.

Curious, Tanushree and her mother exchanged glances before rising from their comfortable positions, their steps leading them towards the living room where her father stood.

"Tanu beta, dekho kon aaya hai," her father beckoned, prompting them to join him.

As they stepped into the living room, Tanushree's heart skipped a beat as she laid eyes on her husband, Abhimaan, sitting casually on the couch. His presence was unexpected yet strangely captivating, and he looked every bit as handsome as she remembered, dressed impeccably in a turtleneck and black suit.

Their eyes met, and Tanushree felt a rush of emotions flood her senses. It was as if time had momentarily stood still, and in that fleeting moment, she found herself unable to tear her gaze away from him.

"Arey, Jamai Sa," Tanushree's mother greeted as Abhimaan rose to touch her feet.

"Khush raho beta," her mother blessed him warmly as he sought her blessings.

Seated at the dining table, they served Abhimaan a delicious meal, and he couldn't help but praise the flavoursome dishes before him. "This is absolutely delicious," he commended, genuinely impressed by the culinary skills on display.

"It's Tanushree's favourite dish," her father proudly informed him, a smile playing on his lips as he watched Abhimaan relish the food.

Her father gestured for her to show Abhimaan around, as they reached Tanushree's room upstairs.

"This is my room. Do you need anything else?" she asked, her voice tinged with a hint of nervousness.

Abhimaan, who had been admiring the intricate mandana paintings adorning the walls, turned to her. The room exuded a traditional charm with its minimalistic furniture, yet it felt cosy and inviting.

"I need you," he said, his gaze piercing into hers. Tanushree's heart began to race at his words, her cheeks flushing with a mixture of surprise and anticipation.

He slowly walked over to her, his steps deliberate and purposeful, until he was standing inches away. Gently, he pulled her to him by her waist, his touch both firm and tender.

"I went to the penthouse, you weren't there. Then I went to the Mansion. You weren't there either," he murmured, his voice low and filled with a mix of frustration and concern. "Then Karan informed me you were visiting your parents. Do you know I drove here like a mad man?"

Tanushree looked up at him, her eyes searching his face for answers. "Why?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"You didn't care about me in the last one week. You left me alone at the reception party. Do you know how embarrassing it was for me?" Her words were tinged with hurt, his grip on her waist tightening slightly. "I didn't even know where you went."

Tears welled up in Tanushree's eyes, threatening to spill over.

His eyes softened as he leaned in, seeking her forgiveness. "Maaf kardo Jaan," he whispered, pressing a gentle kiss against her lips. "Am I forgiven?" He asked again, placing another tender kiss on her cheek.

She looked down coyly, feeling a rush of warmth at his affectionate gestures. Abhimaan reveled in the effect he had on her as she nodded in response.

With a playful grin, he swept her up into his arms, twirling her around in a display of his affection. "Then let me serve you, my Jaan," he declared, gently placing her on the bed.

Their lovemaking that night was slow and passionate, each touch filled with tenderness and desire. As they lay together in the afterglow, Tanushree couldn't help but feel as though she was experiencing a new side of her husband, one that filled her with both excitement and contentment.
