ZACHARIAS'S MOUTH SPOUTED crimson blood, which dribbled on his chin and down to his neck. But still, he continued to mutter out the incantations written on the grimoire.

A chilling atmosphere enveloped the room, shrouded in an eerie silence broken only by his haunting incantations. The air itself seemed to thicken with dread, carrying whispers of an unknown past and a foreboding future.

The wind howled like a banshee, carrying with it the scent of decay and ancient magic. Shadows twisted and writhed, casting sinister figures upon the walls, their forms flickering and merging with the ethereal dance of debris and dust. It was as if the very essence of the room had come alive, echoing with the whispers of forgotten souls seeking to commune with the living.

Zacharias's voice trembled with a mixture of fear and determination as he pressed on, each word from the grimoire resonating with a power that seemed to challenge the fabric of reality itself. The barriers between worlds blurred, allowing glimpses of something beyond comprehension to seep through, a realm of mystery and terror that lurked just beyond the Veil.

The magic was dark indeed even though it was parading as a purification spell. It was for the reason that, the more the spell sipped the hex away, it got darker and darker. I could see its essence around the gleam of the runic candle beside the book; its warm orange flame turning blacker as Zacharias continued chanting.

Tala convulsed. Suddenly, all of my attention was on her. The plumpness of her flesh slowly came back, as if she had once again regained health. I closed my eyes and sighed in relief. It was working.

Just as Zacharias finished saying the last word which completed the purification spell, the runic candle's black flame was exterminated by its own.

I immediately rushed beside Tala. She was still lying unmoving on the dusty bloodied floor with her eyes closed. I tried waking her up but she wouldn't budge. It was bothering. But what bothered me the most was the unchanged condition of her shriveled skin, gray like cement, and I couldn't see her silver hair returning any time soon to its natural jet-black hue.

I went back to Zacharias. I gripped him by the throat to hold him close. "She's not fully back to her old self. You FUCKED IT UP."

"I..." Zach gasped, his hands were desperately trying to loosen my fist around his neck. "I DID NOT. Y-you n...ne...need to..."

I released him when I noticed he was passing out. Zach coughed out blood as his eyes slowly closed. I slapped him by the cheek a few times to keep him awake. "Hey. I need to what?"

"Bring....her....back....to....earth..." He stuttered with heavy gasping. Then, he fell unconscious.

"Hey, Zach!" I tried shaking him, but he was unresponsive.

I dashed inside the hospital as quick as I could, then laid the Mayfair cousins on unoccupied beds in the emergency room.
