Ian

"That was her brother. After we called and convinced her to help us, she was here in 30 minutes. Instructing me on the phone about what to do until she got here herself to look at you. She didn't want anyone there except me, so I forced Ash and the twins to leave which was very hard considering how worried they were about you," dad says looking at Dom and me.

Then he continues to say, "I needed to tell her what happened and how it happened so she could have an idea of what you were suffering from. She didn't ask for details or anything but she knew everything happened because of a woman and she didn't want you to refuse treatment because she was a woman herself. So whenever a test or checkup needed to be done when you were awake she would send her brother in after teaching him what to do."

I'm speechless. I don't know what to say or what to think. I never though a human being would care so much for someone they never knew, a stranger. After all, the dearest person to our family was the reason we were in that situation to begin with.

Before I can sink in my thoughts, dad starts talking again, "it took quite a while for you to heal, especially Ian. She took care of you every day for four months and she asked for nothing in return. No money, no influence, no favours, no nothing. All she wanted was to keep her identity secret, and if that was the only price she wanted, I'd pay it gladly."

We all stare at him like he grew another head. What the fuck? What in the actual fuck??

No matter how empathetic a person is, there is always a cost to their service, no matter how small.

"Wait, wait, wait. Back up a little bit. She treated my brothers for months and she requested nothing in return???" Cale asks dumfounded.

I couldn't agree more. That would cost at least a couple hundred thousands of dollars in hospitals or even more for private doctors.

"I offered a lot of money for her but she kept refusing. She told me to focus on you boys and forget about the money. Every last tool, equipment, and medication she used, she bought by herself. I paid for nothing, except the food she told me to get that is best digested by patients."

That can't be right. People are greedy and they want money more than anything. They are gr-

"Stop that, Ian," I hear mom say, and I snap my head up to look at her. "She is not like that. That girl has a heart of gold, she is so pure and loving. You will get to know her soon enough." She says hopefully. She knows me so much to the point where she knows what I am thinking.

My answer is a nod, because I don't know what to say. People are never this nice to you if they didn't have ulterior motives.

"She heard me talk to the twins on the phone about needing to make a new system and she offered to help. In case you still didn't catch on, that girl is a genius. She is very good at a lot of things, one of them being hacking and coding. I don't know how she did it, but she helped Cole and Cale create the system from scratch without them knowing someone was helping them." Dad keeps the information coming.

Our jaws are aching from all the sudden movements.

We stare at him more until Cole breaks the stunned silence. "Damn man, the confidence I had in my skills is now rocky." He sighs dreamily.

This woman is incredible. My tiny beauty is so smart.

This woman saved me and my brother from death, I owe her my life. I owe her every breath I take. I deeply hope she doesn't have any hidden intentions. It would destroy mom and dad. And possibly... us.

We sit quietly for some time. Each one of us seems to be replaying these facts in their heads. Life changing facts.

"Is she the one that saved you and mom as well?" Asher's quiet question is met with an equally quiet "yes" from dad.
