Asher
Samara's pained whimper pierces my heart.
What's hurting her now? Is it her heart again? God, no. She needs a fucking break after what happened to her today.
"No!" She strains through her plum lips as she huddles closer to Ian.
"Fuck. Not now." Oliver curses under his breath as he looks at her in the rearview mirror, his eyes wide like saucers.
"What? What's wrong?" I ask trying to keep the panic at bay.
"She is having a nightmare. If you don't soothe her down soon, her heart rate will skyrocket and she can't afford that now." He explains and I can see his own panic raising.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Think. Think. Think.
But before I can come up with anything, I hear Ian's voice in a way I never heard before, gentle and soothing, whispering to her. "Shhh baby girl, I'm right here. You are safe. We are all here."
He keeps whispering sweet nothings into her ear while he kisses her forehead and brushes her hair until she settles down against him again.
We all sag with relief once she gets back to a harmless sleep.
I feel so helpless. There is nothing I can do to ease her pain. The only time I was involved she ended up unconscious for 5 hours with crippling pain. If I was careful with who I hired we wouldn't be like this right now. She wouldn't be in pain right now.
The fact that she can't go to a damn hospital when she desperately needs it is going to drive me crazy.
I will find whoever is preventing her from that and chop them to pieces. Amarok and Storm can use a good snack.
Six years ago. That sounds like a long time ago.
If she is 26 right now that means she was 20 when that happened and... wait, what the fuck?
"Wait, back up a second. You said six years ago right?" I pause until Oliver answers with a "yes."
"Then that means she was 20 years old and you were 17 at the time, making the quads 12. How did you exactly treat her if she couldn't go to the hospital and you were kids!?" I can't hide the horror in my voice because what the fuck man. What. The. Fuck.
Oliver sighs tirelessly, his mouth pulls downward. "The person that trained Sam to be a doctor is the person that treated her. And she was able go to the hospital at the time."
I wait for him to continue but he doesn't, and I don't prey further. We will know everything in the right time even if it's killing me to know now.
The car falls into a comfortable silence, the only sounds in the car are the soft snores from Samara.
I smile at her cute snores. Her comfort brings a welcome sense of calmness to me, making the caveman inside me relax a little.
It's never awkward with these siblings. There is something about them that put me at ease especially my beautiful Angel. She is a complete sweetheart.
Ah. That's probably why Dad calls her 'Sweetheart'.
Yeah, I think I approve.
30 minutes later, we are pulling into what looks like an apartment building car garage.
Oliver drives up to the door and stops. He does something on his phone that opens the gate and he drives in, the gate closes right after him.
But there is another gate right in front of the car. This time a red laser beam scans the car for a couple of seconds before turning green. Oliver rolls his window down and a small electrical pad rolls up from the ground.
