Fallons POV
After yesterday, work was the #1 thing on my mind.I had no idea how to navigate the fact that my 16 year old sister is addicted to cocaine. I couldn't even fathom that all my coworkers believe that Cleo killed her own sister.
Not to mention the fact that I didn't even tell Cleo about the exchange with Kenin yet.
Right now, all I wanted to focus on was exonerating Cleo and getting justice for Maddie.
"Fallon. Meeting in 5." Sergio mumbled as he walked away. I sighed, hanging my hand as I waited near the expresso machine.
These meetings were beginning to be a waste of time, new information for her case in particular rarely ever was given.
"Hey Fal." I heard Alan's voice say from behind me. I barely wanted to speak to anyone today but especially not him.
I groaned quietly and kept my back turned to stare at the coffee slowly dripping into the cup. I heard footsteps approach.
"Fallon. I'm sorry about yesterday, really. I don't want you to be upset with me over it." Alan said, his voice sounding much closer.
I shook my head and grabbed the cup, the last drip of coffee falling onto my hand.
"I've got work to do Alan. I don't have time to walk." I said, walking out of the break room. As I walked through the hallways everyone was headed to the meeting room, including Cleo.
The second her eyes were set on me I knew she knew something was wrong.
"Is everything okay?" She asked sternly, her 'professional' tone being used since we were at work. But her eyes asked me in a different, softer way.
Her eyes were a new language that I was learning, soon I'd be fluent in 'Cleo'.
"Yes." I answered, walking past her in order to go to my office. I was beginning to get very agitated.
Why couldn't I solve this case?
Why did Cleo have to let me in on the fact that Maddie is really her sister?
And why the hell is everyone in this goddamn department so hard set on incriminating Cleo?
I groaned out in frustration, setting my coffee cup down on my desk and picking up the case file.
"Mi amore, is everything alright?" Cleo said, walking into my office and pushing the door in behind her. I barely glanced up, keeping my eyes glued to the case file.
I was staring at words trying my hardest to read them even though I'd seen them a thousand times over.
Now that I thought about it, I still haven't gotten a peak at the DNA file that came back for Jason's body. Maybe there would be something in it to help exonerate Cleo.
"Fallon?" Cleo said from across the room.
"The meetings started, aren't you going?" She said, walking over to me. I shook my head, increasingly becoming agitated.
"No. I'm trying to solve this case Cleo. The meetings are a waste of time anyway." I said, putting the case file down and glancing up at her.
"Where's Jason's DNA file?" I questioned, watching as she leaned against the door.
Her eyebrows furrowed slightly as she stared at me.
"Why?" She asked, walking towards me and putting her hands on the chair in front of my desk.
