Fallons head pounded mercilessly as she opened her eyes. She would've slept for much longer if it wasn't for the shaking of the bed, which startled her slightly.
She turned around and saw Cleo sitting up on the edge of the bed, her shoulders slouched and back facing the younger woman.
Before the confusion had a chance to settle in, the younger woman stared for a few moments at Cleo's back and her arms, once again admiring the area of the tattoo that she could see.
Fallon smiled, and then realized..
Holy shit, Cleo's in my bed, the younger woman thought.
"Cleo?" Fallons voice still full of sleep croaked out.
Cleo turned around and the women's eyes met, Cleo looking tired. She must've noticed the alarm on Fallons face and fully turned her body around so that she was fully on the bed.
"You ok? Do you remember what happened last night?" Cleo inquired, cringing at how the slight alarm in her voice. She was hoping that she wouldn't have to clarify anything to Fallon.
"Uh.. well.. I-" The younger woman stammered, she remembered everything but the embarrassment prevented her from admitting so. She basically admitted to Cleo how she really feels.
"Nothing happened Fallon, you called me over and we just went to sleep. I tried to leave but you asked me to stay. I'm sorry if I overstepped." Cleo said, standing up and getting off the bed.
"Listen.. I- I'll just see you at work." Cleo said, walking out of the bedroom. After a few moments Fallon heard the front door open and close.
Fallon felt an inexplicable ache in her chest, hoping she hadn't made Cleo uncomfortable. She was mainly upset that she couldn't stay in bed with Cleo longer.
Cleo also felt an ache in her chest, but she knew very well why that was.
As the older woman drove home, in a rush to get prepared for work, not only did yesterdays events with her mother bug her but the fact that Fallon remembered nothing that happened, nothing that she said made the older woman feel hurt.
It made Cleo wonder if she even meant any of it.
Truly, she just wanted to focus on anything that wasn't Fallon or family related.
Back at Fallons house, the younger woman scrambled to get showered and dressed for work. She was a mess in and outside.
Popping some ibuprofen and finally getting her shoes on, she made sure to check on Fiona before she left.
When the door to her little sisters room creaked open, she was surprised to find that Fi was already awake.
"You're up early — everything okay?" Fallon said.
Fiona simply shrugged and went back to staring mindlessly at her phone, even though there was a slight twinge of unease in the older sisters gut she knew she was going to be late if she stayed any longer.
"There's food in the fridge, if you need anything, text or call. Love you." Fallon said as she closed the door and walked out the front door.
Fallon knew her little sister was still mad because of yesterday, but the woman barely had time to process anything going on. She quickly drove to work and when she got there, it was pure chaos.
As soon as she entered the office, her pod area was swarming with people walking back and forth talking to each other which was a drastic contrast from the usual calm demeanor of the office.
"Lou-" Fallon tried to stop Louisa who completely ignored her.
"Guys.. what's going on?" Fallon said as she continued walking, reaching Sergio and Cleo.
