I've accepted my fate.
I sat still, having the audacity to sit at Sergio's desk waiting for him to arrive. My finger tapped itself with anticipation, but I already knew how this all was going to end.
I made a promise, and I don't break promises.
The door swung open, and Sergio's eyes met mine. He furrowed an eyebrow as he stared at me, typical cup of coffee held in his right hand.
"I have something to show you." I reached into my pocket, pulling out the recorder that hid in my shirt. It collected Kenin's entire confession, as well as mine. He slowly made his way toward me and glanced up, his eyes pouring curiousity.
I took a deep breath. My finger hesistanting over the button for a moment. If I hit play, my life is over. Everything I've ever worked for, will no longer matter. I'll spend the rest of my life in prison. But the alternative? Letting Fallon rot for something she didn't do. Her only crime was daring to love me, and being surrounded in my mess of an existence. She doesn't deserved to be punished. So with a small breath being released from my lungs; I played the tape, and Sergio's eyes widened.
"Oh my god." Sergio lost his composure as his eyes widened in horror as he realized the truth.
He listened, as I winced silently at the painful and harsh words Kenin and I exchanged. My blood boiled as I was forced to re listen to his ardent language.
"Cleo, you understand what's going to happen." Sergio spoke as a few moments of contemplation. My heart dropped as did my head, a small sigh escaping me.
"I do."
Sergio fell into a contemplative silence once more and after a few moments, he took the recorder from my hands and stood. On his way of the the office, he paused before turning the door handle.
"You have 24 hours before I hand this over. I will get Fallon out tonight." Sergio spoke as if it all pained him.
"I wish things were different Cleo." He sighed, glancing back at me.
"You have no idea." I sighed.
Sergio nodded before leaving the office.

"You're back?" Fiona asked, her eyes raging red and face puffy. After leaving the department, I knew I had to come check on her once more.
And let her know that Fallon would be home soon.
"Fallons getting released tonight Fiona. She'll be home soon." I smiled gently as I watched her expression change quickly. At first she seemed elated but quickly deflated before speaking.
"Fallons going to hate me."
"She won't." I reached over and squeezed Fionas arm, wishing that reassurance would seep from mine into her skin.
"Everything will be alright Fi. Don't worry."
"But how could you know?" Fiona followed up, her voice leaking with trepidation, which made me swallow harshly.
"Don't worry about it, okay?" I leaned down and gave the girl a hug. Fionas made mistakes, horrible ones. But they're just that, mistakes.
