Lamark is escorted to his room by Papa Brand who brings a clipboard and a small plastic device with him.At Papa Brand's request, they take a seat at the table in the room and Papa Brand puts the device on the table in front of Lamark. "Alright, 13-2. Today we're going to conduct a test. This is a simple mousetrap. See, it is triggered when this part here is disturbed. But if we take away this tap, the trap will spring, unless it is blocked, somehow," he explains while demonstrating what he's talking about. "Now. I want you to create something that will block the trap and prevent it from springing. Do that now," he orders and leaves the trap to Lamark.
The youth eyes the opening in the trap and focuses. In a second, his face takes on the shape of a goat's, small black horns starting to curl back over his ears, as dust in the palm of his hand swirls up and solidifies to a simple block. He puts tension on the trap mechanism and places his creation in the way of it snapping shut. "Good work, 13-2," Papa Brand acknowledges. "Please stand up now and move to the far end of the room," he instructs. With an expression of slight puzzlement, Lamark complies and walks to stand in the corner between his bed and the sink/toilet installation. Moments pass, and nothing happens. Eventually, Papa Brand gets up and taking the mousetrap with him, moves toward the opposite end of the room.After a few paces, however, Lamark exclaims:-"Papa Brand, something's .."The block in the trap vanishes in a puff of sparks and Lamark's face reverts to human. The trap snaps shut.
