Dylan walked inside his house. Hands shaking. A dull orange gloom from the kitchen, blue Ray lights omitting from the living room as the TV played. Dylan tried walking carefully up the stairs but as he does so, a step creaks. "You little mut. You brought my booze?" A groggy voice yells from downstairs. Dylan's lower lip quivers, a tear rolls down his cheek. "No- no dad, I forgot." He responds, a voice break as he sniffs. A metal sound can be heard, an unbuckling of a belt. "You know what that means you little shit. Come here!" His father roars from downstairs. Dylan woke up all sweaty. He runs to the box machine, pulls out the toilet and pukes. He breathed all heavily. "It was just a dream." He says to himself as he wiped his mouth. As Dylan made way to the cafeteria, chants could be heard, as well as the banging on the tables with their fists. "Newbies! Newbies! Newbies!" Dylan sits with his group and looked at the new faces. A tall man, fit figure with defined arms. Next to him, a small dark skinned boy with a painted on mask. Dylan watched the man as he crouched and communicated with the boy using his hands. "Is he deaf? That's new." Roach comments, then gets a smack by Linda. "Any news about Josh?" Manny asks bringing the group to an awkward silence. "I have someone that could help. Did Josh leave something of his with one of you?" Dylan voices out his idea. "Yeah" Manny starts, "His watch. He gave it to me before he left." Dylan smiled, and nodded his head for him to follow him.
Manny and Dylan walk towards Fae's room. Dylan leads the way walking down a hall. He finds the door, and knocks before opening, revealing Fae packing her things and getting ready to leave. The room is empty, and the bed bare, with no white sheets. Fae turns around, quick like the wind. this place has got her aware of every single thing. ''Oh, jesus. Hey. what's up? Mama Ashley will be here any minute now. be quick.'' She puts her hands on her hips. "Hey Fae. We need your help with something." Dylan holds out his hand and takes the watch from Manny. "We need you to see where our friend is. Josh. He left a few days ago. It's important. Please." Dylan says, his eyebrows sinking with his eyes as he pleads. Manny stands in the back quietly. Fae puts out her hand. ''His item?'' With a serious look, she stares at Dylan. Dylan places the watch on her hand, then takes a seat on the bed and waits.
Fae sits down on the floor, with crossed legs. she closes her eyes. As she gets in her moment, she opens her eyes. ''A little privacy, please?'' she gestures them to turn around. Manny clears his throat, and turns around. "Oh, sorry." He scratches his hair. Dylan does the same and faces the wall. Fae closes her eyes once again, standing up now, she squeezes the watch in her left hand, as her eyes flare open in a neon blue colour, her hair blowing like there's wind. Dylan and Manny turn around, and her nose starts bleeding, as she falls to the ground. panting heavily, she tries to speak. ''He's...'' Fae lays on the white floor, struggling to speak. "Fae! Manny, watch the door!" Dylan rushes to his knees and shakes Fae, checking her eyes. "Are you okay? What did you see?" Dylan asks her as he watches her cautiously. ''Dylan...'' she swallows, looking at Dylan. ''Dylan- i saw nothing.. but i felt him.... I'm sorry...''
"Fae what did you see?" Dylan asks again, his voice trembling. Manny turns around and looks at them. ''Dylan I felt him.'' Looking worried, she sits up. ''He's... He's gone..'' Fae looks down, then at Dylan, then Manny. "You're lying." Manny shakes his head repeatedly, his eyes watering. He makes way towards the door slowly and cautiously. Fae sits up, before speaking. ''What happened to him is what you see. I felt every single thing.'' Fae whispers, her voice weak.
Manny starts crying and runs out the room. Dylan gets up and slides his hands through his hair. His neck gets red, veins popping from the inside. His head getting light, and that stinging feeling is back. It never left. It was always hiding there. It already started. Josh was dead, and it was his fault. Dylan left the room, leaving Fae on the floor. He walks down the hall, lowering his head and hiding his face as Mama Ashley walks down towards Fae's room. "Good day 18-8", Mama Ashley says as they pass each other. Dylan gives her a nod of acknowledgment before continuing with a faster pace. A woman walks down the stairs, to an office. Her red lipstick bright as ever, and her black gloves being removed. She heads to the table where the other doctors had been sitting. "That boy 18-8, how's he doing? He's capable of controlling his mind any better? There's buyers." Papa Gregg looked at her strangely, and then down at his clip board. "18-8 isn't in mind manipulation, he's in Combat." He says in response in which then confuses the woman back. "Hm. I don't know, it seemed different out there. Keep running tests then. These kids need to be kept in their tracks. At any moment if they're triggered, it could jeopardize everything we have here." She explains before leaving in the other direction.
