I looked at the group of people he left me with. I blinked a few times to see was my eyesight good.
"We wasted our innocent Doris." Kyle smiled.
"I don't even know you." I mumbled.
"It's not a good idea to stay with us!" David smirked.
I frowned. I didn't have the energy to deal with them. My body wanted to rest. Where was Leon? Where did he go? I made some steps away from them. Suddenly, I heard someone getting up and sneaking behind me. My legs were pacing around, but I walked faster to escape in an immense crowd of people.
The stairs were so blurry that I couldn't see anything. I didn't see them at all. I saw Kyle behind me. His smile was pure evil. My heart was beating so fast and my steps got faster. Somehow, I managed to go downstairs. I found my way out of the house. "LEOON!" I reflexively shouted his name. My balance, my view, and my hearing were all blurry.
I shouted again, but with a quieter voice. Tears started dropping out of my eyes. If only I could feel safe.
"I am here!" I heard Leon's voice near me.
I was looking around to find his face, but everything was fuzzy. Finally, I noticed his figure sitting on the ground. Even though my view was unclear, I could easily recognize him. Pale skin, his perfectly shaped body, and dark clothes can't be mistaken.
"Leon!" I said his name with plead and desperation.
He got up, "You're safe. Let's drive you home."
"Safe with you? How ironic. I will go by foot."
"You're kidding, right?"
"I don't want to go with you."
"But you were calling my name."
"It's funny because I feel the safest around you at this party. It should be the opposite. I hate it's this way."
I glanced at his eyes. "Bye, asshole! See you on Monday!"
"Where are you going?"
As I was making steps towards the road, I shouted, "HOME!"
Swiftly, he ran towards me and grabbed my hand. "You're going with me. There's no way I'll let you go home alone in the dark."
I just chuckled. "I'll tell everyone you kidnapped me."
He was taking me to his car, and he hasn't released my hand yet. I just followed his steps. We got inside of the car. We were sitting in the car without words said. Usually, I am afraid of eye contacts, but today I couldn't stop staring at him. "It is just 11 PM. Do we really have to go home?" I said.
He gazed at the sky out of the window, and muttered, "So you and Kyle were a thing?"
"Why are you asking?"
"Ju–. Just curious."
"No. We just talked for few months. I caught feelings and he didn't like that. Then left without a word, and ignored my messages and never talked to me again. After that, I told myself to never fall in love and never catch feelings for anyone. I've been doing well. It's been 2 years since that."
He watched me without muttering a word, and I came near his face, "You, alright?"
I giggled while my face was inch away from his. "Your eyes." My mouth had no filter, and I was tipsy with my words. "What about my eyes?" Leon said as his voice got deeper.
"Nothing, they are just alluring."
His cheeks burned up and almost felt uncomfortable. "You're wasted, Doris. Let's take you home!"
"Your car smells like cigarettes. I hate it."
"This will be the last time you are inside it."
"Will we ever talk about the things we talked about when we were in the lake? Or will you just forget it happened?"
He lowered his head on the seat, looked me in the eye. "Maybe when you are sober."
I chuckled, "I am sober."
"How many fingers do you see?" He asked while pointing fingers towards my face. "Four. I am not stupid."
He sounds so adorable. No, he doesn't. What if I kiss him? Wouldn't that be crazy. No, don't do it.
"It's 2. Doris, let's take you home."
"Leon, have you ever had a girlfriend?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Same reason as yours."
"No, Doris."
I sighed and smiled while he stared at me. "Aren't you like the hottest guy in school. How you neve–" I stopped myself. "What did I just say?"
He started to talk and was saying things I couldn't understand. I was dizzy and my ears just shut down. All I could see was his lips and that's the only thing I stared at. I leaned closer to him, and suddenly we were in silence. My fingers paced around his cheek, and I leaned even closer to kiss him. His lips were one inch away from me, but he pushed me before I could touch them. "Doris, let's go."
He turned on the car, and my eyes closed and my body felt sense of safety.
