Doris's POV
Juliet is too pretty to be portrayed by me, and I have baby face not to play Romeo's mother. So, the only woman I can play is some nurse. I went through the pages of script to read her few lines that she has:
"His name is Romeo, and a Montague, The only son of your great enemy."
"First let me tell ye, if ye should lead her in a fool's paradise, as they say, it were a very gross kind of behaviour, truly it were an ill thing–."
Her lines seem short and easy, and I doubt anyone will want to play nurse. Everyone will jump to play Juliet. I paced around my bedroom with the script practicing every single line. Hours passed and these lines were just not getting into my head. How can I learn them when I am distracted by thoughts running in my mind. I wish it were easier. Jolene was right. One thing we both know is that Leon is stubborn, and he doesn't give up. If he wants one thing, he will get it. But what does he want from me?***
I walked around the park while the sunset sparked the sky. My headphones blasted depressing music, and I completely turned my mind off. Walking around I noticed two boys and one girl sitting on the bench. But the strange thing was that she seemed uncomfortable. Walking closer to them, I shook as I realized who that was. David, one of his strange friends, and Sydney."Sydney." I shouted.
Her tired eyes looked at me. Her hair was a mess, she had heavy dark circles, and her eyes were red.
"What are you doing to her?" I shouted at David. I pushed him against the chest and felt no fear in me."Doris, don't." Sydney begged with her tired voice.
David chuckled and spat at me without warning. "Mind your business, bitch."
The park was empty, and if anything were to happen to me, I would have no one to save me.
"Oh, Doris. You have no idea how fucking stupid you are. She is fine. She just got drunk, and now we are sobering her up. Happy?"
I looked again at Sydney and said, "That doesn't look drunk to me."
"How would you know. You went to one single party in your life and now you think you know something."
"I think Syndey doesn't want to be here with you anymore. Let me take her home."
He laughed mockingly, and said, "She doesn't want to go with you, and she doesn't like you."
"Do you speak for her all the time?" I continued, "Sydney?"
Again, no response. "See. She doesn't even want to talk to you. Now, leave us alone."
"I'll call the police." I said in fear that got into me.
David grabbed my arm and pushed me aside.
"If you plan to tell police, or any person about this, I'll make sure to kill you no matter if I end up in jail or not. I'd rather rot in jail, than see a dumb snitch live happy and fine."
I gritted my teeth and pushed him away, "I don't care. Kill me." I cleared my throat, "I'd rather be dead, than watch you slowly kill my friend."
"I will not just kill you, but that dear boy Leon."
My heart jumped out of my chest, and I feared to say a word. His black eyes stared directly into mine.
"I planned exactly how, but it won't happen if you just keep your mouth shut."
He sat down back on bench and laughed together with his friend. Tear fell on my cheek as I watched Sydney sit helplessly.
I must save her. There must be a way.
"Sorry." I whispered and walked away from them.
