'Wherever you go,
just always remember,
you never alone, we're birds of a feather,
and we'll never change,
no matter the weather
this is my oath to you'

--March 2020.---

The morning sun shone through the tiny cracks in between my curtains as I slowly came to consciousness again. I sat up in my bed and rubbed the crusted sleep from my eyes, I looked down at my messed up sheets and silently cursed myself for being a restless sleeper.

The smell of freshly cooked bacon was silently filling the air and I could hear cooking noises coming from the kitchen which only meant one thing, Dad was making his usual Saturday breakfast and that's my que to get up. I dragged the covers off myself and stood up, shoving my feet into my slippers and grabbing a hoodie to pull on overtop of the singlet and shorts I had slept in. I glanced around my room which was pretty much just a typical teenage girls room, my walls were painted a light blue but pictures of my favourite things covered them anyway. I pulled my curtains open to let in the natural light before heading downstairs.

The usual weekend morning was the same as they'd always been, my Dad clad in his comfiest clothing, stood at the stove cooking bacon, the kitchen a mess at his attempts to cook for my sister and I but I knew he'd insist he cleaned it all up himself because 'The weekends are your days off' he'd say.

"Good morning Sweetheart" My Dad called, coming over to place a kiss on my forehead "I have breakfast for you" He says as he hands me a plate filled with eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast.

"Morning Dad, Thanks" I smile as I take a seat at the table.

I start to eat my food but get distracted by the noise coming from the next room. "What's happening" I begin to ask but I'm cut off when suddenly there's a big bang and out of nowhere a skateboard shoots across the kitchen floor hitting the kitchen island. I leap up from my seat and run into the hallway to find my little sister Willow on the floor "What happened?" I ask, extending my hand out to help her up.

"I was just learning a new trick" She shrugs her shoulders making me shake my head and we both laugh. Willow was a typical 10 year old who thought nothing could get in her way.

"Well let's all eat, no more of that right now, we have a busy day" Dad calls from the kitchen. I roll my eyes which makes Willow smile then I gently pushed her towards the kitchen so we could both eat.

After breakfast I went upstairs to get ready for the day before heading out to do my usual daily chores, we own a farm so there's a lot to do, we all help out to make it easier on Dad. I milk the few cows and sort out their food and water and I tend to the vegetable garden while Willow feeds the sheep, goats, pigs and chickens and collects the eggs and Dad does everything else. I got suck right in and I was finished all my tasks reasonably quickly today which meant I had a little spare time before my best friend Avery was due to come over to spend the night like she had every Saturday night for as long as I could remember and even though this happened every week it didn't mean I was any less excited
