'I'll be there for you,
When the rain starts to pour.
I'll be there for you,
Like I've been there before.
I'll be there for you,
'Cause you're there for me too.Song: I'll Be There For You - The Rembrandts.
The weeks went by in a blur and soon it was the end of August, spring was in the air and I couldn't wait for the long warmer days. Not too much has happened lately but around here that's considered a good thing compared to how the last few months have seemingly bought us nothing but devastation. First with me getting stabbed, H getting shot and then when he fought in the death match but nothing will compare to the utter loss we all felt when Calum died.
So I was thankful for these days spent at the compound doing mediocre tasks because it only meant no more death, or near death for that matter which I never wanted to experience again.
Usually my days have started off with waking up beside H which I swear I will never get sick of, his arms wrapped around me in his warm embrace. We head to breakfast together with all the rest of the crew and once we've finished there the boys go off to do their daily work and I find something to entertain me. I have been spending a lot more time with Willow even though she's sometimes too busy with her friends to care about hanging out with her big sister but I think it's important so she gives in and ends up having fun anyway. I've been helping out Maeve in the kitchen and she appreciates the help as much as I enjoy her company, she's started hanging out with our group a bit more and it's cool to have someone else there.
Speaking of new people, the girl that Jax and Ash found in the city has fully recovered now and she fits in so well with us too, her name is Matilda but we call her Mattie and I'm pretty sure there's something going on with her and Cruze although they both deny it. I've also been spending a lot of time with Ruby, I swear she's my little shadow because she just follows me everywhere. She's so well spoken and well behaved for a child, especially one that has grown up without parents for the majority of her life now. She doesn't like it when I have to take her back to the kids bunkhouse at night but I always return as soon as I can in the mornings to get her and it's the cutest thing ever because she just follows me around all day while I get stuff done, she loves just observing the world. I've been showing her different things and teaching her along the way and she's super helpful it was hard to believe she's only 3 sometimes.
H says it's about time we start up the concerts again so tomorrow night will be the first one in a long time so the excitement is high all throughout camp right now. It's bittersweet Cal won't be here but the song the boys have written to honor him is great, I've heard snippets of it when they've been working on it but I wanted to wait until the concert to hear the whole thing.
Seeing as H is busy looking over the kitchen supplies with Maeve I was kinda bored, it was the afternoon, lunch had just finished and no one else was around. I wandered the dirt paths around the compound in search of something to do. I waved to some of the kids kicking a ball around, checked in with Cruze who looked just as bored sitting in the infirmary. He only had one patient who was a little girl who had broken her arm this morning apparently so he sat doing a crossword. I passed by a group of teenagers, a few I recognised as Ash's brothers and their friends, they were playing basketball outside the mess hall. The animals had all been cared for and the gardens were done so I couldn't even distract myself with that.
