Twenty-Two (H.S)

Chapter 37.

"Wait...wait...wait..." I held my hands up in front of my face "Say that again"

"Ugh Em" My best friend sighed "Pay attention, It's really not that hard" My eyes go wide at her pun and we both cracked up and collapsed onto the bed in fits of laughter.

"We're really mature" I sarcastically joked and she started to tell me again and this time I paid attention properly.

For the past half hour Avery had been telling me the ins and outs, if you will, about everything sexual. Apparently she was informing me of every possible scenario 'just in case' as she put it. Although this had been an incredibly eye opening experience it was still rather awkward, not because it was Avery but because H and I were no doubt going to be doing some of the things that had been mentioned tonight, maybe not all of them, no definitely not. When she started going off on a rant about certain kinks I had to reel her back in, that was a bit too far for now.

"I'm sure you'll have nothing to worry about Em, H treats you so well, he'll definity go easy on you"

"Yeah I know, It's really not that big of a deal, just a little awkward because he obviously has way more experience than I do and I can't help but compare myself to those other girls and what if he does the same" I sighed slightly frustrated.

"You can't think about that though, he's with you, he clearly loves you, and god he's a grumpy little shit whenever you're not around according to Nate" Avery laughed. She was right, more than one person has told me that before. "Just make sure you're fully stocked with condoms because once you get on the sex train there's no getting off, you'll be at it like no tomorrow" We both laughed again and it felt great to have a good chat and a laugh with Avery again after the last few weeks of seriousness we've had.

"I didn't even think about that side of things" I mentally face palmed myself, how could I not. "Well it crossed my mind that we'd use condoms but like they're a single use thing"

"Yeah..." Avery sounded slightly confused to where I was taking this.

"So like where are they coming from? They're going to run out eventually right?"

"Well actually Nate told me that condoms were top on his list of things to stock up on right after the wipe, according to him the guys split up and went all over the city to the various doctors, pharmacies and grocery stores. Nate's got a few hundred in his room" She shrugged like it was nothing.

"Okay wow" I laughed.

"Yeah, so let's just say they're well stocked" She nodded. Of course I shouldn't be surprised by this information, they were all just 20 year olds back then. Seeing a 20 year old H would be something else, I'm sure he was mostly the same as he was now. I wondered if he and I would get along then as we do now.

It was raining again, it felt like all it had done all week was pour down and I was starting to get over it. Everytime I went between the buildings I would get saturated which meant I was having to do laundry than usual to keep up with all the wet clothes.

I stood under the covered area outside the mess hall looking out willing the cloud to part and the rain to stop for just 5 minutes so I could make it back to H's hut without getting drenched to the core again but it was no use, I clearly wasn't gifted with superpowers.

I would do it on 3, I would count myself down and then make a run for it.

I bolted out from under the cover and raced towards H's hut, the hood over my head doing nothing to protect me from the downpour.
