Ms. Martinez's POV

I was working a late shift at the hospital doing some paper work, one of my co-workers came up to me to tell me something.

"Nurse Martinez, you have a visitor." She said.

"A visitor?" I stood up from the chair.

"Yes, he said he's looking for you. He's outside." She replied.

I followed her to the lobby of the hospital, once she walked off I went through the slide doors and was outside.

"Angela?" I heard a deep voice.

I turned around and saw someone I did not expected to see, all I could do was stand frozen in place.

"Oh my God!" I exclaimed.

Ms. Martinez's POV

I was in complete shock at who I was staring at, it was none other than my ex husband... Luis! If you don't remember, he was abusive to me and our children. He went to prison ten years ago, and now he's out. He used to be a loving man back in the day, but all of that changed. Once he lost his job, he stared drinking his life away, he started to become and angry, bitter man. He was out of control, he took all of his anger out on me and our kids. Thanksgiving ten years ago is a night I'll never forget, that night he showed up at my house and attacked me and my children. I sure won't forget all the rotten things he has done, and I'm not sure if I'll ever forgive him.

"Hi Angela." He softly said.

I didn't know what to say, I just stood in place speechless. I took a deep breath and finally started to speak up.

"L-luis, when did you get out?" I slowly asked.

"I was released on the first of November which was last month." He said.

"Are you hurt?" I folded my arms.

"No." He shook his head.

"Well what are you doing here on my job?" I sighed.

"I- I came to see you, I heard that you had a job as a nurse so I decided to... See how you were doing." He cleared his throat.

"I'm doing just fine." I said with a plain tone.

"How are the kids?" He slightly smiled.

I look at him in a weird way, did he actually want to know how his kids are doing?

I sighed. "They're just fine." I simply said.

"I bet they've all grown so much now." He said.

"They sure have." I said.

Honestly, I didn't really want to talk to him, he didn't care about us then so why does he act like it now? I don't buy it one bit, what if all of this was a big lie? But I do have to ask myself, should I keep holding a grudge against him?

"How long have you been a nurse?" He asked.

"For awhile now." I sighed.

"Oh, well um... When you see the kids, tell them... I'm out." He said. "I have to see then sometime."

I shook my head. "I-I don't think that would be necessary."

"But Angela I--" I cut him off

"You don't need to see them, and they won't be happy to see you anyway." I told him.
