One can Only Hope: A Sidlink Story

Chapter 10: Dento

"I have been thinking about your offer for marriage, and I... accept." Link runs up to me for another kiss. This time, I lean down instead of picking him up. Yona just freezes. Oh shit. I forgot she was there.

"I... I always wanted you to have a happily ever after. I just always thought... we would have the same one." Yona tries to hold back tears, but it clearly doesn't work. She begins to walk away.

Yona: 

Of all the things that could have happened to me, that was the worst. But what do I even matter? I should be happy for him. I should be happy for both of them. I just... I don't know. I could tell that he didn't have feelings for me, I just didn't want to admit it. I guess I went over the top a little bit too. Oh fuck, who am I kidding! Slapping your fiancé is NOT okay. Now all I can do is ask for forgiveness.

Link:

"Uh... what the ABSOLUTE FUCK was that." I ask Sidon. It all happened so quickly. Yona was there, I was on the ground, Yona got all corny, and started crying in the rain. Then Yona was gone.

Sidon starts to laugh, "I honestly don't know, or care. But what I do know, is that we should probably go to a more private place."

I smile and whisper, "Alone time sounds nice." The sky starts to clear, but that reveals that it is getting late. I let out a long yawn.

"Sleepy are you?" Sidon lets out a tiny chuckle and scoops me up into his arms. The last thing I see before I drift off is Sidon's warm, loving face.

I wake at about 2 am. I hate when that happens. The only light is from a small lamp on the bedside table, am I in... Sidon's bedroom? I sit up and look at my surroundings. A dresser,  a chair next to the balcony, a few shelves (most filled with pictures of me. Definitely Sidon's room), and the bed I'm in. But right next to me, Sidon is still fast asleep. I lay back down, and put my arms around the Zora. I soon drift back to sleep.

I awake again to the sounds of Zora children playing in the domain. The laughter fills my heart with joy. The sun is beginning to peer into the window.

"Good morning my love." Sidon whispers to me.

I lay back down and turn towards him. "Good morning."

"How was your sleep?" Sidon asks backs.

"Oh, just wonderful." I lean closer to him face and wrap one of my arms around him. He gets the signal, and kisses me. Hard. VERY hard.

Yona:

I take a deep breath. I am  going to apologize to Sidon. I open his door and see them just plain out kissing in the bed.

"OH, FUCK NO." I accidently say it out loud. I slam the door and run away.

Link:

I laugh. "You didn't lock the door did you."

"I guess I forgot." Sidon is laughing too. "But I guess it's a sign that I better get going. I have some errands that I need to run today."

"Can I come to?" I ask.

"I think it's best you don't. You can go and spend today helping the rest of Hyrule."

"Why can't I go?" I start to get a bit whiny.

"It's... a surprise." Sidon searches for words. I tilt my head. Them he leaves the room. I sigh and teleport to Gerudo town to help them with their sand shroud.

Sidon:

I am relieved that Link was cooperative. I was wondering if I would have to go behind his back, but clearly I don't. Today, I am wearing a cargo belt with some pockets. I pull a small, paper list out of one of the pockets.

It's simple, but it might not be easy without suspicion. Especially getting past Dento. But I can manage. Hopefully. I head down the stairs to get to the main floor. But not without running into Yona.

"I'msosorryforeverythingIdid.I'msorryforslappingyouandI'msorryfornotrespectingyourfeelingsforLink." She takes a deep breath. "And I baked you a cake to say sorry. You can share it with your new fiancé. Can we still be friends?" A few tears form in her eyes, but she is smiling.

"Oh Yona," I smile back, "Of course we can be friends." She puts the cake down, and hugs me. I hug her back. "Friends" I say.

"Friends." She replies. She gives me the cake. "The cake says 'Sink' on it. I mixed up Sidon and link. It sounds kind of strange, but a ship name is a ship name." The cake is fairly large, three layers with blue icing, with white roses on the base of each layer. Dark blue sprinkles cover the sides. And sure enough, on the top layer, there is a paper cut-out that says "Sink!" It is kind of humorous, but it is still very cute.

"Thank you very much. I will now return this to our- sorry, my room." Yona gives me a look when I change our, to my.

"No use in hiding your 'gay problem' Sidon."

"Yeah, I know just... I'll put this away." I head back to my room and put the cake on a shelf. This would make a good wedding cake. I think to myself. I head back out to go talk to Dento about making a ring. I climb down the stairs of the domain to get to Dento's work-shop.

"Why hello Sidon." Dento's voice is old and tired, but surprisingly comforting. I have known him  all my life, after all. "What can I do for you?" He asks.

"Well... um... I would like you to make me," I pause, and take a breath, "A ring."

"A ring, eh?" Dento scoffs, "That's not a common request." Dento looks at me with a mischievous smile."

"It's not for a Zora." I try to make the words sound natural, but Dento can see right past my unease.

"It's that Hylian ain't it?" Dento's grin grows wider across his face.

"How could you possibly kno-"

 Then Dento interrupts me, "Look. I've known you your whole life. And because of that, I have seen you with that Link fellow. I know you have feelings for him. Sorry for breaking it to you, but you aren't hiding it very well." He pats my shoulder. "Well anyway, what do you want this ring to look like anyway?"

"I would like it to be simple, and easily worn in battle. I would like it to be flexible, and have a small sapphire in the center."

"Okay. The ring shall be done in about a week. I'll make a matching one for you." Dento nods his head and smiles.

"What about the payment?" I ask.

"Ah! It's free for you Sidon!"

"Wow! Thanks!" With a large smile on my face, I leave the workshop.

"Wait!" Dento beckons me back. "You are working on planning your wedding right?"

"Yes..." I listen close for what he has to say.

"Talk to Kapson. He can help you. He used to be a priest, but has retired since his glory days. However, I'm sure he will do one last wedding for the new Zora King."

"Thanks again for all the help Dento." I beam at the Zora.

"Just doing my duty to help the Domain."
