Riley gladly took Will's offer to babysit Aurora, kissing her daughter's cheek before rushing off to her car. She drove back home, trying to be as safe as possible even though she was angry and extremely anxious. Adam's words played on repeat in her head the whole drive home. As soon as she got there, she jumped out of the car and ran upstairs to their apartment. Throwing the door open, her eyes fell on Adam and Jay who were sitting on the couch seemingly waiting for her.

Adam stood up and walked over to Jay's fuming wife, putting a hand on her shoulder in support. "He's still a little intoxicated, but I got him to drink some water. I'll leave you to it and get back on the road but call me if you need anything." She thanked him, truly grateful that Adam had been there because if he hadn't picked up that overtime and another officer caught Jay - he'd be done with.

She cleared her throat, barely even looking at Jay. "You were lucky it was Adam." He mumbled a response, leaning back on the couch with his eyes closed. But Riley knew he heard her. "What the hell happened, Jay?" She asked, trying to stay calm but her voice betrayed her.

Jay's eyes shot open at her words and as she stood in front of him, she could tell they were bloodshot and his pupils slightly dilated. "Are you high?" She asked, surprised. He instantly looked away and inhaled, "Jay!"

"Stop talking to me like I'm a fucking kid, Riley. I know how to handle myself." He fought back, staying put on the couch.

"Yeah, you clearly do." She scoffed, shaking her head. "Adam just caught you drunk driving and apparently you were high too. Jay, you're a goddamn cop - what the hell are you doing?"

"I'm fine." He blocked her out, but she wasn't having it.

Riley sighed heavily, feeling the weight of it all on her shoulders. "Jay, listen, I'm just worried, okay. I don't know what to do to help you. One day you seem fine and the other... you're not. I just want to help." Her voice was shaking and it broke Jay's heart.

"I'm dealing with it on my own, Riley." He stated, refusing to look her in the eyes.

"All right, then look me in the eyes and tell me that again." Riley demanded but Jay still wouldn't look at her. "See, that's the problem Jay. Clearly dealing with it for you means trying to forget about it with sex, alcohol and now drugs - but from where I'm standing it doesn't seem to be working."

Jay seemed surprised by her accusation, but she just rolled her eyes. She wasn't stupid. Maybe she ignored it for too long, but she knew damn well the signs of Jay going off the rails from his PTSD. Ever since he came back, his sex drive had been through the roof and as much as she enjoyed it - she now realized what truly caused it. Plus, she knew he drank himself to sleep almost every night only she hadn't realized that he wasn't really sleeping because of the pills he'd been taking. Jay was smart though, because he kept it far away enough to not let it show at home or at work. It didn't make it okay though. And even though he swore he'd been seeing a therapist, Riley realized on her way home that must have been a lie too. She just didn't want to see it. The detective so wanted things to go well that she ignored the signs and she hated herself for it.
