Riley came into work with an unsettling feeling in her stomach. The kind of feeling a parent gets when their kid gets sick or when they're in trouble. After calling the daycare three times in less than an hour, she sat down in the locker room and took a few deeps breaths. Hailey came in soon after, a frown appearing on her face as she noticed the stressed expression on Riley's.
"Are you okay?" She questioned, taking a moment to actually ask even though she came in to the her they had a lead on the case they were currently working on.
"Yeah," She sighed, rubbing her face before she looked back up at her friend. "I just have this gut feeling, like Aurora's not well or something. It's weird, I'll get over it I just needed a moment." Riley told her, already standing up and following Hailey out. "Something new with the case?"
"Yeah, Jay's on scene with Atwate and they believe they have eyes on the crew we've been looking for. They're waiting for us." Hailey told her, both of them rushing out to Hailey's car.
The team had been investigating a crew who had been stealing drugs from multiple clinics all across town. As far as they were aware, it hadn't been sold and hadn't caused any overdoses - so it was mostly preventive.
Hailey drove them to the scene, stopping next to Jay's car as she rolled down her window. "You move in yet?"
Jay turned to face them as he was sitting in the driver's seat. "Not yet, we were waiting on you." Hailey nodded and let him know she'd park and they could go. She spotted a spot a few car ahead of Jay's, so she quickly parked and both women got out. They subtly walked over to the clinic, keeping their guns by their sides while Jay and Kevin followed behind.
"They're in there?" Riley questioned, feeling like the clinic was way too quiet for whatever was supposed to happen in there.
"Saw them go in a few minutes ago. They were messing around it when we called it in." Kevin told her, ready to head in whenever Riley and Hailey opened the door.
"Ready?" Hailey questioned as she put her hand on the handle. They all nodded, getting into position to enter the clinic. She threw the door open, announcing their office as they burst in. It was uncharastically quiet in it, which made it even weirder. They all went their own ways, clearing room by room.
"Body!" Riley yelled as she rushed into one of the check out rooms, her eyes instantly falling on a body on the floor. It looked like a young boy who had been stabbed. She bent down next to him after grabbing gloves from the compartment next to her, using gauze to press on the laceration. "Hey, hey, can you hear me?" She called, trying to see if he could react.
The boy's eyes flew open, his hands trying to push her away in a hurry. "No, no. I'm police, okay. I'm here to help you, stay calm." She assured him, but her words only seemed to agitate him. "5021 Frank, roll an ambo to Southdale Clinic. I got a stabbing victim, looks underage. Please notify my partners that I need immediate assistance."
