It was now the present day. All three childhood friends had grown up and were now in the world, dealing with their own problems. They remained close, however, despite the many hardships and challenges they faced together, but here they are at a family dinner. They were there to celebrate Rick's now 11-year-old son, Carl Grimes' birthday. They sang as Lori, Rick's wife, brought out the colorfully decorated cake to the table.
Carl was smiling ear to ear, knowing that Shane and Bonnie had brought him some good gifts. They clapped as they finished the song and Carl blew out the candles. Carl looked up as Bonnie handed him a box. "Aw, C'mon, Bonnie. This is like the millionth time you've given him something." Lori said as Rick chuckled, knowing there was no stopping Bonnie from spoiling their son. "Well, make this the million and one time." She said as Carl peeled back the colorful paper that concealed the gift.
He opened it and it was some new comics that he had been wanting. He smiled as he looked up at Bonnie. "What do you say to your aunt?" Rick said as he crossed his arms. "Thank you, Aunt Bonnie," Carl said as he hugged Bonnie. "You're welcome, Buddy," Bonnie said as she hugged back. Everyone had a great time celebrating his birthday. Just spending time together as a family was nice to them.
It was now about 10:30 P.M. and they were getting Carl ready for bed. Shane was tucking in Carl as Bonnie read him a bedtime story. After they were done, They were about to go out when Carl called out to him. "Aunty Bonnie...Can I ask you something?" Carl asked as he sat up. They stopped as they turned to Carl. They looked at each other before looking back at Carl. "Sure, Buddy," Bonnie said. "When are you and Shane getting married?" Carl asked as a blush spread over both Shane and Bonnie's faces. "Good night, Kiddo," Bonnie said as she turned off the lights and both she and Shane walked downstairs.
People always thought that Shane and Bonnie were a couple, seeing how close they were and how they acted when they were around each other. They came downstairs and saw that Rick and Lori were still up. "There you two lovebirds are." Lori teased as they sat on the couch. "Okay, woah, That's far fetch," Shane said as Bonnie chuckled. "So, Was Carl too much?" Rick asked. "No, He was an angel as always," Bonnie said.
"Hard to believe." Lori joked as they laughed about it. It all soon went silent. A peaceful silence. "Well, I should be heading back home," Bonnie said as she stood up. Shane stood up and followed her to the door. "I could drive you," Shane said as Bonnie thought about it. She didn't want to take the bus at this time and didn't want to walk so she accepted. They went out to his car and drove to her apartment.
"You wanna come in?" Bonnie said as she opened the door to her apartment. Without hesitation, Shane accepted and went in. It wasn't unusual for them to spend the night together, considering the many other nights they spent together. (If you know, you know)
