It had been at least a couple days since the CDC incident and the group was back on the road. Some of them were a little bit shaken up and some were relieved. They had come so close to death many many times, but yet they had managed to escape. Now, Here they are on yet another journey looking for some sort of refuge. They had given up the idea of finding a cure for this whole thing, so they decided to make the most of it.
It had been a few days and they had been walking for a while, a couple days to be exact, when they spotted a barn in the distance. That is where they meet the Greens. They were welcoming to them and allowed them to take shelter there. It was all going smoothly and they each had their own jobs around the barn. Upon reaching the barn, they were met with the welcoming presence of the Greene family, who graciously offered them shelter within its weathered walls. Hershel Greene, a stoic yet kind-hearted man, extended his hand in friendship, inviting the survivors to make themselves at home.
Grateful for the refuge provided, the group wasted no time in settling into their newfound sanctuary. They each took on tasks around the barn, finding solace in the rhythm of their chores amidst the chaos that surrounded them. Walkers still roamed around, but with the more number of individuals that lived in the farm now, they took them down pretty easily.
Yet, even in the relative safety of the barn, whispers of tension lingered beneath the surface. Differences in opinion and conflicting ideologies threatened to unravel the fragile peace they had found. And as the days passed, shadows of doubt crept into the minds of the survivors, casting a pall over their newfound sanctuary.
Bonnie had begun to notice how quickly Shane had changed ever since this whole thing started. He used to be a little bit goofy and easy going, but she noticed how on edge he was and how much he had adjusted to this whole thing. She noticed how irritated he had begun to act. He used to always laugh at her little small jokes, but now he was taking everything seriously. She was worried about him and how he was acting, but Rick just told her to let him be and that he would come around sooner or later.
She wanted to take Rick's advice, but she just couldn't shake off the feeling that the sweet and loveable Shane had turned into this man that would do anything to survive. She was saddened and just gave him his space.
Shane had noticed this and became suspicious. He began to get these ideas that maybe Bonnie was cheating on him. He started to jump into conclusions about why she was distancing herself from him. One day, He found her talking with Glenn. He was filled with envy as he walked over to her and grabbed her wrist. Bonnie was startled by this increased aggression. "We need to talk," He said through gritted teeth. Before Bonnie could speak, He was already dragging her away into a secluded area of the barn.
"What the hell was that?" Shane asked as he let go of her hand and put his hands on his hips. Bonnie looked at him confused for a moment. "What was what?" She asked as Shane grew more annoyed and irritated. "Do you think I'm stupid? Do you think I don't notice how you haven't been spending time with me and more time with all these other men on the farm," He said. Bonnie could see the irritation, jealousy and anger in his eyes.
"Shane, You know I would never do that type of thing to you," She said as he chuckled. It wasn't a type of chuckle that could bring warmth and comfort into a room, but one of malice. One that she knew meant that he meant business. He reached out and gripped her arm again, this time harder. "You think I'm stupid, huh. You think you can lie to me and that I would believe you. I've seen the way that you looked at Glenn. The way you avoid me just to go see him and spend time with him. You can't fool me!" He said before Bonnie slapped his face. It wasn't a hard one, but enough to knock some sense into him.
Shane was shocked by this. Bonnie only put her hands on him when she felt threatened. He let go of her arm as he held his face and stared at her. Bonnie had a stern look on her face as she pulled away. Shane's grip had left a mark on her arm. "Don't you dare ever accuse me of cheating because I have done no such thing. Now, I've had it up to here and I'm tired of it. You accuse me of cheating, but how do we know that you didn't do nothing with Lori?" She said as Shane shook his head.
It seemed that the slap had knocked some sense into him. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to his chest. She wrapped her arms back around him as they stayed like that before Shane spoke. "I'm sorry, Bon. It's just with all this happening and you not talking to me... I'm just stressed..." He said as Bonnie cupped his face. "I'm sorry too, sugar. It's just you've changed and I couldn't take it anymore. I just thought that maybe if I gave you some space, you would be your old self again," She said as they stayed silent for another few minutes.
They both had their reasons for feeling the way they felt and they had explained that. One of the reasons for them having a long relationship was their communication with each other. "It's okay, Bon. It's just next time...You gotta at least check in with me before doing this type of thing again. I was going crazy with you not talking to me," He said as he pulled away and looked into her eyes.
"I promise. Next time, just please be less harsh. The others are worried about you and I think I am too," She said as Shane's eyes softened.
After a bit of time of them talking it out, They came back out. Shane was a little bit relieved of his stress, but he stayed alert of anyone or anything that could threaten him or his family.
