Age: 12
It was just like any other day. Rick and Shane play video games in Rick's room while Bonnie is out, playing in a lake not so far from the house. She was just walking around, poking at things with a stick and picking up frogs every once in a while. She was talking to herself and one of the frogs she kept, One she called: "Edward." She had Edward in her overall pocket as she talked to him.
"You have ever been in love, Eddie. Ever had that feeling that there's just that special someone you just need? It's a wonderful feeling that you get into your heart." She said as she sat down on a log. Eddie croaked as if he was listening to her words. Bonnie continued to babble on about a boy that she had been crushing on since she was a kid and Eddie just listened as Bonnie chucked stones into the lake.
"Y'know, You're not bad to talk to. You listen to me." Bonnie said as she heard a twig snap behind her. She quickly stood up and she looked around. Eddie croaked as Bonnie got a stick. The area was known for bears and she was ready to protect herself if it was needed. The sounds of footsteps approaching her grew louder and her grip on the stick grew tighter. Something jumped at her and she closed her eyes as she swung the stick at whatever jumped at her.
"Ow!" A familiar voice yelped. She opened her eyes, only to see Shane on the ground holding his gut with Rick snickering in the back. "Oh my God, I am so sorry," Bonnie said as she helped Shane up. "Told you, you shouldn't have snuck up on her like that," Rick said as he came forward. Shane was still groaning as he rubbed his stomach. "We heard you talking about some boy." He said as Bonnie's face flushed.
"How much did you hear?" Bonnie said as Shane smirked. "The part where you were talking about a boy you liked and being in love," Shane replied as Bonnie turned away. "It was stupid, so just forget it." She said as Eddie croaked as if to say that she was lying. Shane approached her. "You sounded so lost in that stuff you were talking about." He whispered. "C'mon, Bon. Who is it?" Rick asked. "No one," Bonnie said.
Rick and Shane kept bothering her about it before Rick got annoyed and walked back to the house. Shane was still determined and kept bothering her about it. "Fine. . .If I tell you, you won't be mad?" She asked as Shane nodded. "I was talking about you," Bonnie said in a soft voice as she waited for Shane's reaction. Shane just stood there, dumbfounded by what she had said. "Oh my God. . .I felt the same way." He said as Bonnie also became shocked.
"Really? You're not just playin' with me." She said as she looked at him to see if there was any sign of him lying. "No, I'm being serious." He said as she turned to him. Her face was now red as she looked at him. "Y'know. . .You kind of owe me after that swing." He said with a hint of mischief in his tone. "So, You're blackmailing me now?" Bonnie asked as she smiled. "Kind of." He said. "So, What do I owe you? Homework, Classwork, What?" She asked. "Promise me this one thing, If we're not married by the age of 30 and we're both still single, We marry each other." He said.
"Deal," Bonnie said. "I'll hold you to it," Shane said as they walked back home with Eddie listening to their conversation. They were young, but yet they already knew what they wanted from each other.
