I woke up with a soul-shattering headache, instantly regretting the drinks I'd put in my system. No alcohol will touch my lips ever again.

I get up to get ready for work. I've been enduring a day-long headache, and all I could think about was curling up in bed again.

I was getting ready for lunch when Deanna texted me.

"I'm going to pick you up for dinner later. I'm going home to Cebu, and I don't think I'll be back soon. I'm going to miss you so much, J."

I almost forgot Deanna existed for a time. Ella is everything I can think about. She's been my first thought in the morning and my last at night ever since our first encounter.

Hours went by so slowly. I texted D to just pick me up at my condo because I want to have some nice, warm showers before our dinner. Thankfully, my headache subsided after that long, nice shower.

It's around 7:00 p.m. when D knocked on my door. Her jaw instantly dropped the moment she saw me. I'm wearing a red dress paired with my flat sandals. I'm not much of a fan of high heels.

"You are absolutely stunning," she said, still looking mesmerized."

And you don't look so bad yourself," I replied.

She lent me her arm. "Shall we, milady?"

She even bowed down.

"You're cheesy!" I laughed.

I accepted her invitation, and she kissed my hand.

"After you," she said as she made way for me.

The night went by smoothly. We ate, danced, and laughed at that fancy restaurant. Deanna has been my best friend for as long as I can remember, and her leaving for Cebu somehow makes me sad.

"So, tomorrow's my flight. Will you give me a ride to the airport?"

She said as we were on our way to the parking lot.

"Of course, D. Anything for you," I said, holding her hands.

She smiled as she opened the car door for me. Part of me aches for the thought of not seeing her for some time.

"Ready?" she said before starting the engine, and I nodded in approval.

We're on our way to her condo, so I could drive her to the airport tomorrow.

We decided to watch a film before going to bed. I noticed she seemed troubled as we were preparing to sleep.

"Something's bothering you," I said.

"Nothing," and she just smiled.

"I know exactly what those furrowed brows mean," I said as I curled up to her.

"I'm really just going to miss you," she sighed.

"I mean, I'm not used to not being with you, not being able to hold you like this," she said, pulling me closer to her.

"Hey, you're not leaving for good, are you? You're going to come back, and we'll do a lot of catching up."

I can feel the weight on Deanna's chest. Something about it makes me feel sad for some reason.
I buried my face in her neck as the silence lulled us to sleep.

It's four in the morning when the alarm woke us up. We got up to get ready and make our way to the airport.

"Attention to all passengers, this is the final boarding call for flight 15A to Cebu."

We heard the last call, and I helped her with her stuff.

"Keep me posted," I said as I hugged her.

"You take care here, okay? If anything goes wrong, I'm one call away. I'm going to book a flight back here," she said, hugging me tighter.

"You will always be my best friend, Wong."

I said, not being able to hold back my tears.
"And so will you be mine, J."

I thought she was just going to kiss my cheek. To my surprise, she passionately kissed my lips. I don't know what came to me, but I eventually gave in and kissed her back.

"I'm so sorry," she apologized.

That kiss was full of sadness and promise, yet also goodbye.

"I love you, Jessica."

She said, sobbing.

I broke free of our hug and wiped her tears.

"Your flight, D," I laughed.

"I almost forgot," she replied, also laughing by now.

"See you soon," she said, pulling me again for another embrace.

She hurriedly walked to the plane, and I waited until she completely disappeared from my sight before leaving.
