Jihyo joined you, her curiosity piqued by the serious atmosphere in the room, you hesitated before showing her the photo that Dahyun had brought.

Jihyo's eyes widened in surprise as she studied the image, her brows furrowing in concern.

"What's going on?" Jihyo asked, her voice filled with worry as she glanced between you and the photo.

You took a deep breath, trying to steady your nerves as you prepared to deceive your colleague.

"I'm not sure," you replied, feigning ignorance as you handed her the photo. "Dahyun found this and thought I should see it. But it's probably nothing."

Jihyo's gaze flickered to the circled figure in the photo, her expression growing more serious as she noticed the mark. "Why is your face circled?" she asked, her tone sharp with suspicion.

You hesitated, your mind racing as you scrambled for a plausible explanation. "I... I don't know," you stammered, trying to keep your voice steady despite the rising panic in your chest. "Maybe it's just a coincidence."

Jihyo narrowed her eyes, clearly unconvinced by your response. "Y/N, this doesn't look like a coincidence," she said firmly, her gaze piercing as she studied you intently. "Is there something you're not telling me?"

You swallowed hard, feeling the weight of guilt pressing down on you as you struggled to maintain your facade. "No, Jihyo, really, it's nothing," you insisted, though your voice wavered slightly with uncertainty.

Jihyo regarded you for a moment longer, her expression unreadable, before finally nodding. "Okay," she said reluctantly, though you could tell she wasn't entirely convinced. "But if you need anything, you know you can talk to me, right?"

You forced a smile, grateful for Jihyo's concern even as you felt the weight of your deception heavy on your conscience. "Thanks, Jihyo," you said, hoping to deflect any further suspicion. "I'll keep that in mind."

All of a sudden, Tzuyu burst into the office, her urgent words cutting through the air, your heart clenched with dread.

Dahyun, injured? Attacked right outside the building?

The realization hit you like a physical blow, and you exchanged a worried glance with Jihyo as you processed the news.

Without hesitation, you joined Jihyo and Tzuyu as they rushed down to where the other officers were assisting Dahyun.

Panic surged through you as you pushed through the crowd, your mind racing with fear for Dahyun's safety.

When you finally reached her side, you found Dahyun lying on the ground, surrounded by concerned officers and paramedics. She looked pale and shaken, her injuries evident even from a distance.

"Dahyun, what happened?" you asked, your voice trembling with concern as you knelt beside her, trying to assess the extent of her injuries.

Dahyun winced in pain as she tried to sit up, her voice strained as she recounted the attack.

"I was walking back to the building when someone came out of nowhere and attacked me," she explained, her words punctuated by sharp intakes of breath. "I didn't see who it was, but they were wearing a mask... and they were fast."

Your heart sank at her words, the pieces of the puzzle falling into place with chilling clarity. It was Chaeyoung. She had attacked Dahyun, just as you had feared.

As the paramedics worked to treat Dahyun's injuries, you couldn't shake the sense of guilt that gnawed at you.

This was all because of you, because of your connection to Chaeyoung. And now Dahyun was paying the price for your mistakes.

With determination burning in your eyes, you turned to Dahyun again, who was still recovering from the shock of the attack. "Which way did they go?" you asked, your voice urgent as you helped her sit up.

Dahyun pointed in the direction the assailant had fled, her hand trembling slightly. "That way," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But please, be careful."

You nodded solemnly, your heart heavy with worry for Dahyun's safety. "Don't worry, I'll handle this," you assured her, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze before rising to your feet.

As you prepared to pursue the attacker, Jihyo stepped forward, her expression determined. "I'm coming with you," she declared, her voice firm.

You shook your head, knowing that Jihyo needed to stay with Dahyun and ensure her safety.

"No, Jihyo. You need to go with Dahyun to the hospital and make sure she's okay," you insisted, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'll handle things here."

Reluctantly, Jihyo nodded, her gaze flickering between you and Dahyun. "Alright," she conceded, her voice tinged with concern. "But be careful, Y/N. We don't know what we're dealing with."

You offered her a reassuring smile, masking the fear that churned in your stomach. "I will," you promised.

Heart pounding, you sprinted towards the direction indicated by Dahyun, your senses heightened as you scanned the deserted street for any sign of movement.

As you reached the designated area, you spotted something dark lying on the ground.

Moving closer, you saw that it was a black mask, the kind typically worn to conceal one's identity during criminal activities.

Your instincts told you that this was a significant clue, and you bent down to examine it further.

When you picked up the mask, you noticed an envelope tucked neatly underneath. With trembling hands, you retrieved the envelope and tore it open, eager to discover its contents.

Inside, you found a single sheet of paper, upon which a message had been scrawled in bold, menacing letters.

"You're in the wrong path, my love.."

The words sent a chill down your spine, and you felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through your veins. It was clear that your adversary was taunting you, playing a twisted game of cat and mouse.

You glanced around nervously, but the street remained eerily silent, devoid of any sign of the person who had left the mask and the ominous message.

With a deep breath, you tucked the paper into your pocket, resolving to analyze it further later.
