As night settled in, you found yourself immersed in your work, poring over the case files spread out on your desk.Jihyo had entrusted you with a challenging case to work on, and you were determined to make progress.
Daewon, sensing your focus, quietly sat in your office, her sketchbook open as she delicately drew with colored pencils.
She felt safe and content in your presence, finding solace in the familiar surroundings of your office.
Glancing up from your work, you noticed Daewon engrossed in her drawings, a peaceful expression on her face.
You couldn't help but smile at the sight, grateful for her company as you delved deeper into the intricacies of the case.
"Hey, Dae, how's it going over there?" you asked, breaking the silence in the room.
Daewon looked up from her sketchbook, a bright smile lighting up her face. "It's going great, eomma," she replied cheerfully, eager to share her progress with you.
You nodded, returning to your work with renewed focus.
Despite the late hour, you were determined to make headway on the case, knowing that every breakthrough brought you one step closer to finding justice.
"How did you and eomma Chae meet?" Daewon asked randomly.
You paused for a moment, surprised by Daewon's sudden question.Glancing over at her, you noticed the earnest curiosity in her eyes as she waited for your response. Taking a deep breath, you decided to share the story with her.
"Well, it's actually quite a long story," you began, your thoughts drifting back to the day you first met Chaeyoung. "We met back in Korea, when we were in high school but then again we met when I was working as a police officer. Chaeyoung was involved in a case I was investigating."
Daewon's eyes widened with interest as she listened intently, her pencil pausing on the paper as she waited for you to continue.
"We didn't exactly start off on the best terms," you admitted with a chuckle, remembering the initial tension between you and Chaeyoung. "But as we spent more time together, we began to understand each other better."
"Was it love at first sight?" Daewon asked eagerly, a hint of excitement in her voice.
You couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm. "Not exactly," you replied honestly. "It was more an obsession than love, especially given the circumstances we were in. But eventually, we realized that we cared for each other deeply."
Daewon nodded thoughtfully, absorbing your words as she continued to sketch in her notebook. "It sounds like a movie," she remarked with a smile.
You chuckled softly, touched by her observation. "Well, life can be pretty unpredictable sometimes," you said, feeling grateful for the unexpected twists and turns that had led you to Chaeyoung and the family you had built together.
"I really want to have a girlfriend.. I wanna be like you two.." Daewon whined and crossed her arms on her chest as she pouted cutely.
"You know, Daewon, you don't have to be like us," you replied gently, reaching over to ruffle her hair affectionately. "You're perfect just the way you are."
Daewon grinned up at you, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "But you and Chaeyoung eomma are so happy together," she insisted, her enthusiasm infectious.
You smiled at her enthusiasm, feeling a warmth in your heart at her words.
"We are happy, but that's because we love and respect each other," you explained, hoping to impart some valuable wisdom to her. "Being in a relationship is about finding someone who makes you feel special and supported, someone who accepts you for who you are."
