Walking through the already-dark hallway at night would've been intimidating, but with an objective at hand, JJ didn't worry about that.
For some odd reason, Mikey was trying to go out despite everyone being asleep right now. He went up and knocked on somebody's door, looking guilty about waking up whoever was inside.
"That's not just some random house," JJ realized. "This is where Carrie and Banana Kid live."
The names alone irked him, and despite Carrie being the one that actively angered him the most, he didn't necessarily like Banana Kid either. To him, all he was was an obstacle, as well as Carrie. Both of them were getting in the way of him fully isolating Mikey.
"But it's not just them that are getting on my nerves." JJ thought, not taking his eyes off of Mikey as he fidgeted on the front porch. "It's starting to become a repeat of last time with him; he doesn't understand that sometimes, I need to kill people. I might be able to get that through his head, if he actually agrees to stay with me. Running off in the middle of the night is not going to cut it."
Just then, Carrie answered the door. Her and Mikey had a short conversation before she let him inside, and when they were out of sight, JJ instantly followed them, planning to spy.
"He can't just do or go wherever he wants without my permission. I need always need to know where he is and what he's doing; and disobeying that by sneaking away in the middle of the night is worthy of a punishment."
He didn't know what he would do yet, but he'd have to figure something out; he couldn't just let Mikey get away with this - doing that would allow Mikey to think he could just do this all the time.
"He's mine. I'll decide what he does."
Hiding underneath the window, JJ tried to listen for anything inside. He heard muffled voices for a minute, before they became slightly clearer as they neared the window he was listening from.
"How much have you eaten today?" He heard Carrie ask Mikey. "If you're feeling hungry, I can fetch you something."
"No," Mikey answered quickly. "I'm not hungry."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. I don't want to eat anything here, all it is is meat."
"What's so wrong with that?" Carrie asked, trying not to sound interrogative or forcing. "Besides, you'll have to eat eventually, or else you'll get sick, or worse."
"I don't want to!" Mikey burst out, his voice quickly becoming unsteady and emotional. "I'd be a horrible person if I did! Do you know what happens to animals so they can become meat? T-Take chickens for example - they get hung upside down by their legs, and dunked in water to stun them, and then a blade cuts their throat- s-sometimes, the stunning doesn't even work! And then there's the sounds of the machines- they're so loud, and what's worse, knowing exactly what they're going to do-"
"Woah, woah, calm down!"
Forgetting about the risks of doing such for a second, JJ stood up and looked directly through the window to see what was going on. Carrie was trying to console Mikey as he essentially had a panic attack, and as that was happening, Banana Kid showed up in the doorway, looking extremely concerned.
"I'll try to find you some vegtables, then." Carrie kept trying to calm Mikey down, and growing increasingly nervous as it didn't seem to be working. "Would that be better for you? I'll do that now. Banana Kid, can you stay with him while I'm away? I'll be right back-"
Carrie hurried away, unexpectedly leaving Banana Kid in her position. He was stumped on what exactly to do for a moment, and during that timeframe, Mikey noticed him there. He got up; still trembling and teary-eyed, and stumbled over to him. Banana Kid noticed his unstability and offered him physical support, to which Mikey accepted immediately.
