Cy's transformation differed from that of normal exos; undergoing a different kind of procedure. Usually the scale and parameters of the exo match that of the human subject, so that it's easier for the consciousness to pair and limit the rejection of the body. However, Cy was given a completely different, militarized body that was much larger. In this early stage of testing, it was unknown as to whether such a drastic transformation was even possible. Normal exos stood at around 6 feet, but these black, militarized bodies stood at a towering fifteen to sixteen feet tall. Made directly from the armor of early Vex Gate Lords. Many subjected offered up for testing were criminal. Sometimes rioters that were against Clovis Bray.

The researchers weren't even concerned with proper pairing of the host consciousness. This preliminary experiment was only to test executive function, and whether Cy would be able to follow orders.

From the moment he woke within the unfamiliar, abnormal frame, Cy felt like he was suffocating. The air was thick, and Cy was effectively paralyzed due to his large size, unable to move any of his limbs. This painful, deliberate punishment lasted for a full day, with researchers observing him and taking notes on his conditions. They were not surprise to find him awake, but unable to function. Many scientist assuming he must be internally suffering, despite seeing his new body unmoved and staring hollowly at the floor.
One arm didn't have a hand, but instead a large box structure that had a needle like appendage attached to it and a tank. His other arm had a humanoid hand, the fingers were long and talon-like, sharpened on the ends like knives. The body also came with digitigrade legs. It seemed that every aspect of this frame screamed to Cy how inhuman he had become.

Eventually gaining some strength, Cy attempted to tare himself apart. As expected, Cy like many before him, tried in vein though.
The armor of these bodies were strong, hard to move let alone tare apart.

With no memories of his previous life since the operation. He'd fall on the same path as many test subjects before him. A voice in his mind kept reaching out to him. Eventually getting loud enough to grab his attention!
This voice offered Cy a deal, if Cy could manage to follow their orders, they could help him become compatible enough to function and pilot thie new body.

With nothing more than his delirium, and drive to inflect suffering against those that did this to him, Cy agreed.
And, after a month the scientists watched as Cy gained more and more functionality and clearance on his body's functions.

In light of this breakthrough, they decided to give him a few simple orders to see how he responded to commands.
Cy reluctantly obeyed, with the voice assuring him to just play along. It soothed his fears, telling that he would eventually get his chance to escape, but for both their sake, they had to play dumb. However Cy was still not satisfied with the deal, so the voice also promised to tell Cy who he was before his unwilling transformation to his new body.
Interested in this information, Cy continued with their deal.
Obeying the scientist every order. A year passed.
The researchers, motivated by this apparent success, christened Cy with an engraving on his chest-plate reading "Mode-1", since he became the first working model. Eventually, Cy's compliance paid off.
He'd be given his first mission.

Because Cy's form originated from a Vex Gate Lord, he could access and manipulate Vex Gates. This would be crucial for his purpose as a harvester, specifically, to harvest radiolaria from the Vex to further more Exo development. Armed with an extractor and a simple laser cannon, Cy entered the Vex gate on orders of the scientists.

However, as soon as Cy entered the Gate, all coms with Cy were broken.
This didn't quite worry the scientists, as it was common.
But, when the data itself from Mode-1's body stopped feeding back to them, they started to question whether he was working as intended.

After 10 minutes, Mode-1 would return to them, and they were initially relieved. But, Harvester they sent in now looked different; he was kitted out with more advanced augments. The injector that was on his arm was swapped out for a rapid plasma gatling gun.

Cy immediately unloaded his magazine into the crowd of researchers that had gathered near the Vex Gate. The research facility was completely and utterly destroyed, no survivors remained, no equipment could be salvaged.
And all tested on exo prisoners were killed too.

It was clear that Mode-1 had gone rough, and Clovis now had a very expensive and dangerous asset on the loose.
Tracking Mode-1 proved to be hard, since he used various Vex Gates to warp from place to place, but also from planet to planet, and even different times.

Mode-1's targets were more of Clovis's lab facilities.
However the attacks didn't seem to focus on freeing exo's or really stopping Clovis from furthering their research.
At one point, Mode-1 returned to his fathers lab, seeking something.
And, he'd come across a younger scientist who in the moment offered the rough Harvester some surface repairs, since Mode-1 took quite some push back from infiltrating Clovis's labs.

Eventually, Mode-1 would be caught on Nessus, as expected, since Mode-1 was fitted with a sort of battery core. Now that it was empty and team was sent to finally capture and dismantle the rough Harvester.

Once Mode-1 was back in Clovis lab restraints, they dismantled him down to a lesser version of himself. Figuring it be a waste to completely destroy the only model that actually survived and proved successful.
They would re-brand his model number to Mode-2
