I woke up the next morning as the sun's rays peeked into our room, casting a warm glow. I was greeted by the soothing melody of his heartbeat, a sound that always brought me solace.
Suddenly, the events of yesterday flashed into my mind, and I recalled the sincerity in Adhvik's confession. The memory was still vivid, stirring a mix of emotions within me.
My thoughts were interrupted by the persistent ringing of a phone. Adhvik groaned in his sleep and hugged me tighter, unwilling to let go.
The phone continued to ring incessantly, grating on my nerves.
"Ji, your phone is ringing," I murmured, gently trying to rouse him. He only snuggled closer, his grip around me tightening.
I sighed and gave him a light tap on his chest. "Come on ji , it might be important," I urged.
He muttered some incoherent words, clearly annoyed, but finally reached for his phone. As he answered the call, I slipped out of bed and headed to the bathroom to start my morning routine.
After taking a quick shower, I emerged from the bathroom to find Adhvik already working. The moment our eyes met, something shifted in his gaze, an emotion I couldn't quite place.
"Adhya, we're going back. We have to attend Rihana's wedding," he said. I nodded in agreement.
"Don't you have something to say?" he asked, looking at me intently. I feigned confusion, though I knew exactly what he was referring to.
"Nothing," he muttered, his frustration evident as he left the room. I couldn't help but chuckle. I wanted him to experience just a fraction of the pain he had put me through our 5 years marriage life
Throughout our plane journey, I ignored him completely, despite his attempts to start a conversation. Watching him grow increasingly frustrated at my silence gave me a sense of satisfaction.
When we finally reached home, I received a phone call from my mother-in-law, demanding my presence in Mumbai for all the wedding rituals.
"Ji," I called out to Adhvik as he emerged from the bathroom, his eyes filled with hope.
"Maa wants me to come to Mumbai for the wedding rituals as her daughter-in-law," I informed him, watching as his hopeful expression turned to disappointment. He nodded quietly.
"I'll come two days before the wedding. Call me immediately if my mom tries to taunt you," he said. I nodded again, appreciating his concern despite everything.
"Is there anything else?" he asked, searching my face for any sign of reconciliation.
"Yes, I need to pack my bags and the kids' bags," I replied, heading to our closet to find my suitcase. I sensed his presence behind me before he spoke again.
"Is that all?" he asked, his breath warm against my neck, sending shivers down my spine.
I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. He muttered something under his breath and left the room, leaving me to my thoughts.
It was 7:30 PM, and our flight was at 10 PM. I had already finished packing, including Adhvik's clothes, knowing he’d likely forget something if left to his own devices. He returned home around 8 PM, and the kids were already asleep, exhausted from the day’s travel.
Adhvik headed to freshen up while I heated his food. Suddenly, I felt a pair of familiar hands sneaking around my waist. His signature cologne confirmed it was him. He snuggled into my neck, inhaling the scent of my raspberry perfume.
"Do you know whenever I’m tired or frustrated, I search for you because you are my solace," he murmured, making me blush.
"Ji, the food is ready. Go and sit; I will serve you," I said, trying to avoid his confession. He muttered something under his breath and left, stomping his foot like Vihan when he’s upset. I couldn’t help but giggle at his actions.
I served his food, trying to ignore his intense gaze.
"Did you eat?" he asked. I shook my head. He grasped my wrist, pulling me onto his lap. I gasped at the sudden movement.
"Let’s eat together," he stated, leaving me no choice but to agree.
"Feed me," he requested. I began feeding him, and he fed me in return. Deep inside, I felt overwhelmed by his actions, feeling loved by his mere gestures.
An hour later, I glanced at the clock—it was 9 PM. Time to leave. Despite my protests, Adhvik insisted on driving us to the airport.
We arrived at the airport, where his private jet awaited. Vrihanika was in his arms, and Vihan was in mine. He kissed both of them before his eyes met mine, drawing me into his spell. He pulled me close, but not too close, given we both held the kids.
He placed his lips on mine, lingering for a moment before moving in a gentle rhythm. We kissed for what felt like an eternity, then pulled back. He snuggled into my neck, inhaling my perfume again.
"Do you really have nothing to say?" he asked, frustration clear in his voice. I shook my head.
"For God’s sake, Adhya Singhania, I confessed my feelings, and all you did was ignore me," he said, his jaw clenched and frustration evident.
I took a deep breath before responding, "I need some time, Ji. I want to get accustomed to it, and I want you to realize how I felt."
Though willing to give him a chance, I needed him to understand the pain his words caused in the early days of our marriage. He nodded, his eyes shimmering with guilt rather than hurt.
"Bye, Ji. Take care of yourself and eat your meals properly," I said with concern and firmness.
He nodded, and as I turned to leave, he pulled me back, placing a kiss on my forehead. "I love you, and I'll miss you. Take care of yourself," he whispered.
His words made my heart flutter, and for a moment, I considered canceling the trip, but my mother-in-law would not be pleased. With a heavy heart, I bid him farewell. He helped place Vrihanika in her seat and left the plane.
As the airplane took off, I started missing him already. A notification pinged on my phone, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Take care, Adhya Singhania, and don’t take anything my mother says to heart. I will come soon, and I love you."
A smile spread across my face reading his message. His words and care felt foreign but deeply comforting.
