Its been a month since I started working here, I love it so far, I have an office and work with a team of 6 people. One of them is Mamglady’s and she has been a mom and welcoming when I first arrived.
We just knocked off and I am rushing to the airport, I am going home. I promised my parents to come home every fortnight and today is the day.
The flight home is short, Abuti Lereko picks me up and we drive home after getting food. “You are the lightest traveller I know.” Nelly greets me, she and Sabs are sleeping over tonight.
“Darling, I am coming home and not a vacation.” I laugh.
“Do you eat in your flat Ore? You have lost so much weight.” Mama dramatically says while giving me a hug.
“It is good to see you too mama. I am going to the gym now. Baby weight must fall.”  I freshen up and join them outside for dinner and board games.
“I have an announcement…” Abuti Lereko speaks but Sabs and I interject.
“You are getting married?” Sabs.
“You are having a baby?” I ask excitedly.
“Thank you for spoiling the fun. Anele is pregnant and I would like to send Papa to pay my lobolo.”  Abuti finishes.  Mama and Sabs ululate, Abuti Oratile and I whistle and cheer loudly.
“Yasss, no actually ke Nna Rakgadi and Rakgadi WA loya.” The table erupts in laughter.
“Friend only you would cry over that.” Sabs.
“I hope my child isn’t as dramatic as you are.” Abuti Lereko.
“Mara the Harry Potter aunty is usually unemployed, so you are safe.” Nelly.
“Yes friend, I am the rich aunt.”
“When are you planning on showing up?” Papa.
“First week in January, I was thinking we make an informal luncheon with her parents and sisters, on the 31st of December.” Abuti.
“Sounds good, let her speak to her family.” Mama. Abuti nods his head, my friends and I excuse ourselves and go to my bedroom. We catch up until the AM’s.
The smell of fried meat wakes me up. Nelly and Sabs are still sleeping, we finished 3 bottles of wine, well they did. I had a glass. I get up and take a bath then go to the kitchen, Lewatle is making food.
“Hey big sis. How did you sleep?”
“I am okay nana, how are you holding up?” Lewatle.
“I am sleeping better, I get tagged each time, Nkosi goes to court and that sucks.”
“I am sorry.”
“The upside to that is the increase in sales that I have.” Lewatle.
“At least the business is good.” Lewatle a fashion designer and has a store which sells bags as well. She is now collaborating with a friend of hers who sells jewellery.
“I must make an appearance today and work the till.” She agrees, she gives me her latest design to wear, it’s a pink high waist flared pants and a matching linen short sleeve crop shirt. Lewatle leaves for work while Nelly, Sabs and I drive to Nelly’s house to drop her off. She has a date.
“We are alone now, tell me how is Pretoria? Any hunks.”
“Sabs, men? Work is good, I love the team.”
“Good I’m coming for Christmas, tell the rants you need to work on the day. We will come back before Abuti’s meet and greet.” Sabs.
“you and lies. How have you been?”
“I am good. I miss our lunch time gossiping but I’m happy you upgraded.” Sabs.
“I am missable. Your dad still pushing the marriage thing?”
“His crazy that one, he couldn’t pick the right woman for himself, now he thinks he can dictate my life? I wouldn’t trust his choice.”
“He still can’t see you are into hunks?” Sabs laughs and parks at the doctors office, my feet are good, I can stop soaking and applying the creams. We drive to the mall and park on front of the store. Sabs is live taking a video.
