“I see you got yourself a man, is he joining us?” The friend. I ignore them and call Vuyo and he answers almost immediately , he promises to come. The cousin’s boyfriend comes, he knows the creep.
“You didn’t tell me you had company. The car is full.” The boyfriend says when he is informed that Sabs is going with them.
“I can give them a ride.” The creep.
“No, we are staying.” Sabs says, my heartrate gets better.Vuyo calls to confirm where I am. Sabs greets his people after his cousin tried convincing him to go with them. They walk out and I see Vuyo, I almost run to him as relief washes over me, tears fill my eyes. The creep is still behind us. Vuyo greets the guy who has been greeting people, his arm not leaving me. I blush when his friend asks if we are together and he just smiles.
The creep tries to touch me, everything happens so fast. I am taken to the car with Vuyo’s cousin who insists that I sit in the front but I refuse. Front seats are for wives and girlfriends. I tell him, he laughs at me and drinks from his bottle. Sabs lays on my thighs. Did he not say he wants to go club hopping? Vuyo comes to the car and he greets his friend. “Did he hurt you?” Vuyo asks looking at me through the mirror. I shake my head no and he nods driving off.
“Do you have a charger for me?” his cousin takes my phone and he charges it. I don’t know why I am trusting this man so much but here we are at his house. His mother greets us and he shows us rooms. Sabs, doses off immediately. I sit on the bed and wait for Vuyo. 5 minutes later he tells me that he is accompanying his cousin. I ask to go with him, he agrees. “I wasn’t introduced, I’m Vusi by the way.” His cousin.
“It’s nice to meet you Vusi, I am Oresiametse or Ore.” We listen to music until we arrive at the house, it seems very busy and I wish I stayed behind.
“Are you okay?” Vuyo asks seeing my hesitation.
“Yes.” He takes my hand, we greet people and he gives me a chair.
“Hey, I am Nobuntu Jr’s wife. What are you drinking?”
“Ore, water please.”
“Water? Are you sure?” she frowns.
“Yes please.” She nods and gives me bottled water from the cooler box in the middle of us.
“Thank you, we ate before we left the house.” I whisper to Vuyo who gives me a plate of meat.
“I will share with you, I bought your white wine.”
“Thank you, I am taking it home with me. For now water is good.” We laugh. He shares the food with me, his family includes me In their conversations. Nobuntu offer to show me her kitchen so I wash the plate.
“How long have you been with Vuyo?”
“We are not together.”
“Makoti stop bothering my guest.” Vuyo hugs me from behind and asks whether I’m still okay.
“I think we should leave.” He says he will finish his drink then we can go. He finishes his drink and we greet. Nobuntu takes my numbers, he drives us back to his house.
“Thank you for tonight.” We are now at his house, he takes out a bag and then he closes the door greeting me. I wait for him to come back, he doesn’t. I eventually sleep, Lereko’s call wakes me up at 5am. I can’t sleep after the call, the house is quite, I stay in bed and wait to hear movement. The door opens, I hear shuffling and a bag zipping,  I raise my head.
“Sorry to wake you, go back to sleep. I am going for a run, I will take you home after my bath.” Vuyo. He closes the door before I can respond. Oh well, I hear sweeping outside. I make the bed and take a bath with the toiletries Vuyo gave us last night. I apply the lotion next to the bed and put on my dress from last night with no underwear.
“Come in.” I answer the knock on the door.
“You are up, I brought you this dress to wear.” His mother gives me a yellow  button up dress with big white lilies on.
“Thank you so much Mah, it’s beautiful.” I take off my dress and put it own. It’s fits me perfectly. I find Mah in the kitchen,  she is stirring a pot.
“That dress suits you, would you like some tea?” Mah asks.
“I will make it.” She switches on the kettle and shows me where the cups are. Mah, leaves me in the kitchen after finishing her tea and she comes back to dish up when Vuyo is back from his run. Sabs and I wash the dishes after eating, then Mah  comes back with grass and a bag. She tells me to join her outside. She teaches me how to make grass mats. It’s refreshing to learn, Vuyo says I must let him know when we want to leave. Mah tells me stories about Vuyo growing up. Sis Matshepo  makes us lunch. Mah gives me a mat she made before and she doesnt let me pay for it, she says I will pay when I return for a visit, Vuyo drives us to my place at 4pm.
