Ore
I am happy, the past weekend was perfect, only Lewatle and papa were missing. I am preparing to go to the office, we have a physical meeting. I slept in my apartment because Vuyo had to go home, Mawe requested to see him.
The ring I got, a beautiful white gold princess cut diamond. IT looks good on my manicured nails, Papa calls me while I put on my shoes.
“Bra Mdeva.” I greet and he laughs until he starts coughing.
“Ore, you are making me old, how are you my baby?” Papa.
“I am good and how are you? How was the bath?” he cracks up again.
“I am good. I will tell you about that later. The Mhlongo’s sent a letter, I am sure you are aware.” Papa.
“Yes, he proposed.” I blush.
“They want to come a weekend before your birthday or 2 weeks after. When are you comfortable?” He asks in a serious tone.
“Before my birthday is fine. Are you available?”
“Ore, my schedule will always move to accommodate you. I will send a response to his uncle then.” Papa.
“Thank you, let’s gossip phela.” We both laughed.
“The shower was good, it was mostly her friends and family , mama invited her church people. I will send you pictures, they are having a little boy. The cake says so.” Papa.
“Oh, that’s nice. Please tell your son congratulations. Yes, I blocked him.” Papa laughs and says he needs to drive out. We greet and hang up. I take a fruit and drive to the office.
“Congratulations Mrs M.” Mimi, the secretary gives me a hug.
“Uhm, thank you.”
“Dont look so surprised, I saw it on your account, your sister tagged you.” She explains seeing my confusion. She takes out her phone and shows me, a video that Ayo posted, of us in the boat, Ayo tagged everyone.
“You follow my sister?”
“Of cause, how do you think we have matching dresses?” I smile and go to the office, she follows me.
“Suprise!!!” my colleagues shout. I cry because of the overwhelming feeling. MamGladys hugs me tightly.
“Okay, stop crying so much. Do you want your husband to kill us?” Peter.
“Thank you for this.” I wipe my tears but they keep falling.
“I organized this little tea, for you because we are happy for you and we haven’t had a wedding in years, gents do better. Congratulations Ore, we wish you more life. You can each have a glass of wine, Musa only one.” The manager.
“Im only here to get a slice of cake and an invitation.” Sally says giving me a hug.
“You will all be invited, don’t worry.” We have tea and cookies. I received a call from Vuyo.
“Nana, how are you?”
“Im good thanks and you?”
“I am good, my uncle says you responded.”Vuyo.
“Yes papa said he would, so March the 15th?” I ask and he laughs.
“Yes, Nana. Mawe is asking that we sleep over.” Vuyo.
“Come fetch me in an hour so we can drive together.”
“I will, see you later nana.” Vuyo hangs up the phone, leaving me blushing. I take my cups to the sink to wash them, mamglad says, she will do it. I stay a bit and greet after a few minutes with the gift cards and flowers they bought me.
“Thank you for the tea.”
“You are most welcome, take the afternoon off but tomorrow it’s back to business.” JJ our supervisor says. MamGladys walks me to the car.
“How are you feeling about spending the week home? I know things were tense the last time we spoke.” Mamglad.
“Its still the same, I will go and be in my room unless I’m needed, Lewatle said she will also be home.”
“I wish things were different, I will keep you in my prayers. Everything will be fine.” Mamglad.
“Thank you mama, I need to go pack. We are going to see Mawe.”
“I need to work, don’t forgot to invite me.” She laughs and helps me open the door.
“Vuyo’s cousin will drive down with you.” I greet her and drive home. The end.
