Our Exit

Running into the void again,
The only reassurance in the Unseeable Unknown is your hand in mine
It's not soft as rose petals, but it's sturdy and reliable all the same.
We two, we two, we two,
Are not heroes,
But what we wouldn't do to remove the Sulfur from our lungs,
To truly breathe again,
Away from him, away from our Hell,
And through Ash and Rain and Defeat
I'll follow you,
I'll follow you.
These papery thin Delights will mean nothing in the end
If we cannot look upon the crooked, winding path before us
Like an ugly smile
With some measure of hope or perhaps a grin,
Even as we are reminded that all is horror, all is Hell,
And there is little time to sit down for a spell,
Perhaps it's just as well,
Perhaps it's just as well,
That we leave it all behind.
I can see a way out, even if you can't yet,
It blazes before me, crimson and lovely
Like a Phoenix of ages past,
It sings to me of Hope and Fortune
And gladly I answer the call,
With your hand in mine,
I prepare to open the Door and leave this Nightmare for good,
No matter what the cost,
No matter what the cost,
We'd rather eat not but Coal and Ash there,
Than a Banquet here.
