I'll not let you fade away,
Back into the shadowed recesses of memory,
Like some dusty remnant of a lifetime forgotten,
Hidden under the loose floorboard,
In the back of my mind.
I'll not let you fade away,
Like what you were to me was but a half-remembered daydream,
Held under lock and key,
By a wizened gatekeeper,
Whose name, along with memories, are lost to eternity,
Longing to push free to my consciousness.
I'll not let you fade away,
Into the ether,
Falling upwards into space,
(And out of my life,)
You're a shooting star now,
Off into oblivion,
I wonder if I'll ever see you again?
