You try to fix what hurts. By trying to mend the past, forsaking the present. It grows distant as you're frozen in the white, snowy static of fleeting moments. Whether they were pleasant or awful it didn't matter. Thorns puncture and make your heart bleed. The feelings start to go... They melt in the far, growing warmth of something you almost let go of. You hold tight, back on the path, finding your way through it all... And you found it. You're here. You're–

You're not sure where you'll fall, where you'll be, but...

Someone's there to catch you. While you froze on reaching out, he caught you. And fell down with you.

Crashed right into the puddle below the roof, the impact pulling you and him apart.

You laid there. Rain splashes loudly on the drowned pavement, on your face, your battered body. A breath quivered from beside you. You followed with it. You take it in. The scent of dirt. The sound of it hitting the puddle. The water splashing on your skin. It's a calm rain. Your eyes dart from him to the sky. You couldn't tell if it was day or night... If the sun was out or not. He must be as tired as you. Your eyes blur from the droplets that fall, a whisper cracking from your throat, "Kai."

"...hm?" It must've been your exhaustion; wet concrete seemed comfortable to lay your heavy head on. No wonder when the cold and wet seeped in to numb. You eased your head to him, the puddle submerging your ear, grasping the side of your face.

"Where are we?"

"You're asking me? I'm just as lost as you here." His grin stayed clueless, marred by a grimace. He had tried to move his aching neck. Instead, his eye found you. You'd think the gloomy weather would have dampened the light in his eyes. It lives vibrantly as he does, a candlelight always glowing. Endearing all the way as he spoke, "I don't think he would've sent us somewhere too far off."

"...I want to see everyone."

"Me too." Kai sighed in longing, catching the water that slipped past his lips. Etch on etch of worry carved his face, trailing further than the water could.

"I..." You licked across your lips, the rain sleek on them. But it didn't smooth out the words, shaking and straining your cords, "Why did you take that chance?"

"...I thought I wouldn't. For a split second." You saw it then. At that moment. Before it chipped away, swept away for you to see him. "But if I made that mistake–like like last time... I– I wouldn't have–"

"Kai." He looked at you. Pittering and pattering, it continued as it washes your drenched bodies. A nice soak in a bath, cleaning you before bed. "I'm glad, and I'm sorry."

"No, I chose to do this," his laugh lowered into a dullness. Wearily, he was starting to doze off. You looked up at the canvas of light gray clouds.

"Thank you..." He didn't answer and you thought he fell asleep. You think you will too.
