Warning: Probably the worst mental breakdown mc's had in a bit, and drinking. Violence too.
========
They spent a while in the streets blaring city pop. Those tunes of all things, and it could've tricked a good part of you that it was all fine. By then, you could've made a mistake inside now. A rushed getaway. Not that this wasn't a tried, tired escape from reality. Not that any of this felt real, a whiplash that always left you dragged behind- because you didn't want to get up and catch it. Helplessness that left you by yourself. It doesn't waste time to remind you. Not anything new when it comes to the world wanting to rid you. Maybe it could with a chance visit to a table where strangers will out you. That's familiar. That's predictable. That's what you expect-
Keep scurrying.
It doesn't make you want to scream at the absurdity in outraged denial because it all hasn't hit you fully yet- A croaked laugh, walking without much of a mind because you couldn't believe it, because- 'After a fucking long while it's asinine... pointless with all this melodramatic bullshit...!" You hissed out, only knowing that you did at someone's side eye. You staked an attempt at normality with a "sorry". Locked that outburst away, it spent too much effort in swelling your heavy chest. You didn't know you were in the middle of the way until someone coughed, easing into the seat you were by. A drag of our eyes from the floor, you glumly searched around under your hood. Not a single face struck a despondent chord as you sat to the far end of the bar... You were hoping you'd see someone. You should be glad you didn't. After all, he said it was a one time thing. You still hated it. You hate this. You didn't want to be here- You didn't want to be-
Haven't you fought for nothing?
'...is that all you can do?' That felt more for yourself than the cutting voice. A year skipped for this... No. You can't say that. 'Why did I even think that.' At this point '-just shut up-' the voice doesn't need to do anything.
You are already unraveling.
It talked to you... like a bug on the wall. Not a waste in effort to discard you. If only to mock you. You wanted for it to say anything. It didn't. That did nothing to quell uneasiness, abandoned. The attention went from you, to the two ninja. Whispers hurried out, edgy glances skimming them.
"What's with the whispers- oh, oh I see. Ahem, I didn't know we'd have such esteemed visitors!" The bar owner welcomed them from the supply room with open arms. Her customers weren't as warm.
"Sell out," one of them scoffed. The bar owner dropped that smile with a twitched frown.
"I didn't ask you, Ruth. Yes, uh- oh, I didn't see you there, what would you like?" You folded the crumpled bill at what is advertised so nicely, "Ginjo sake seems to be what everyone's-" Except you can't afford that. You shook your head, showing her the bill. "Ah, well, I can give you this-" You popped open the can, guzzling with a cringing shiver that reached all the way to your neck to your eardrums.
"Blegh." The sound you made reminded you of Ghoultar. But before you can spiral in another little sadness-
"Ah, yeah, it's not the best- hey, what's with the mumbling over there?"
"Nothing, nothing, it's a little weird seeing these two here, isn't it?"
Passing comments enter in and out, as does the drink, the only reason you knew it was there was for the horrible feeling left in your constricted throat.
"It was leaked that one of the masks were stolen-"
"Exactly, what are they doing here?"
Another jeered, "They're the protectors of Ninjago. That includes everyone- people like them too."
