On the ceiling, your thoughts towed their ideas, one of them a hunch you wouldn't fall asleep. Your nap didn't take you in that blank sleep nor through that missed blanket of sweet dreams. It won't cover you today either. You had somewhere you needed to be at anyway. Skylor had a "surprise" for you at her Noodle House. You wondered what it was. You can't waste time, though, not when the Ninja keep moving the Bounty place to place because of their... stans. You lifted yourself out of bed, cracking your bones with a pop as you walked out of your room. At least you've been getting more shut-eye than what you had a couple of weeks ago or so. Not as many nightmares. You supposed you got so used to bottling up, that unwinding the cap felt unnaturally relaxing. Part of you was convinced it was just you thinking it did, but the more you spilled, the more you could unravel the knots of tangled feelings. One step at a time, as Skylor and Griffin said.
Though you didn't divulge everything. Never let them lift the sheet covering the bigger picture, only allowing them to see an inch of the canvas at a time. They were patient, extremely patient with your standoffish hesitancy. They knew to back off when you tensed too much to say shit and give you space to sort your thoughts out. Unlike what those two tried. Her broken static lingered in your head.
'Did she even know how fucking terrifying that fight with Kai was? Hell, how much did Kai tell them about that "training" incident... Whatever, it doesn't matter.' Pixel and Zane would have picked Kai's side over yours; you know that. As long as they get out of your way, you don't care. Like now, where Zane checked on you twice during these weeks. He didn't go out of his way to shove himself in, only for those two to get pushed away without a word. Ignored like ghosts.
Though, you can't ignore all ghosts. 'Unfortunately.'
"...when one is a ghost, one may have new abilities, focus and discover them."
"Whoa– Did you see me?! I disappeared! I mean did you not see me?"
"Haha well, will you look at that, and here I thought I was gonna beat you to it." You stiffened hearing Kai. Even more so when you remember. Your scarce training was today. With the Ninja being famous, seeking out "fame" and "glory", they seldom had to train you. Especially Kai, you rarely ever saw him after that...
"And again you two." The Ninja were too busy with their interviews or commercials, or TV and movie cameos. You were honestly relieved. A little weight off your shoulders. Times you did spend together training are short before they scurry off somewhere. You stared at the ghosts and master, spouting a bunch of bullshit. You rolled your eyes. How Cole or Kai managed to get to that stage in training with this man is unbelievable. Kai spotted you with a flinch and quickly shut his eyes again like you weren't there. He disappeared.
"Way to go Kai!" Cole cheered, but Kai didn't reappear. Your glower didn't lift off Kai's spot, and it grated on Wu's nerves.
"Would you kindly get the mail? There is a package for you." Wu's eyes closed, doing unproductive meditation. You do. Anything to leave.
Even if Morro would be disappointed in you following his master's orders like a dog. You weren't going to do them perfectly though, sluggish in completing it. You squint at the sun shining through the open doors and put your hood on to shield your blinded vision. White and blue flashed on sail to sail, and you to your time to the mailman at the dock, ringing the bell on his bicycle. He was on edge until you arrived, his shoulders sunk as a huge exhale left him.
"Are you, or are you not one of the Ninja?" You raised an eyebrow, and he handed you a parcel, cautiously attempting to take a peep under your hood. You turned, not liking the way he was scrutinizing you.
