"Can I ask what your sister said to you before we left? If it's private, you don't have to tell me," Mila said, glancing at him.
They'd left pack lands a few minutes ago and were headed back to Riley's house.
"She's pregnant," Ethan said quietly. He was amazed she wasn't pregnant before now, as often as her and Nick were sneaking off to have sex. He smiled to himself. Noelle would be carrying the next heir to the throne. He wondered if it would be a boy or a girl.
"Oh wow. I really like your sister," she said with a smile.
"Are you okay?" Ethan asked her.
"Yeah. Just tired," she said softly.
"How's your clothing situation?" He'd seen she had some, which was good for now. He'd love to take her shopping and let her get whatever she needed, but it was too early in their relationship for that. He doubted she'd accept it.
"I'll be okay. I'm going to need a few things, but I can get by for now." She sighed.
They pulled into Riley's driveway and Ethan put the car into park, eyeing the unknown vehicle. "She have company?"
"Her boyfriend," Mila grumbled.
Ethan looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"I don't really like him," she said.
"Do you want to leave?" He didn't want to leave her somewhere she was uncomfortable, especially given what had happened over the last few days. In all reality, he didn't want to leave her it all, but he couldn't push her. They were already further along in this relationship than he'd anticipated at this point, but he wasn't complaining. Knowing what he was, and that she accepted it was a huge step forward.
She stared at the car for a moment, then looked at him. "You've already spent most of your day keeping me company. I don't want to be a bother."
His eyebrows shot up at her words. She was worried about being annoying? He was a little baffled by that. He was enjoying every moment he was spending with her. "You could never be a bother to me, Mila. I've enjoyed every moment I've spent with you."
"Could I see your place?"
He gave her a half smile. "Yeah. Let's go see it."
"Have you been there?"
He laughed. "I've only been there once, a few days ago when I signed the contract. I haven't been back." He hadn't needed to yet.
"Oh. So you haven't moved in?"
"It's furnished, but I guess I need to figure out what I need. Wanna go shopping with me?" He hadn't even thought of it, but he'd been so focused on her that he hadn't really been thinking of much of anything. There was no food in the place.
"Sure."
"Okay. I need directions. I'm not at all familiar with the area," he said.
They arrived at a store a bit later, and Ethan got out, scenting the air. He wanted to relax and enjoy his time with her but he needed to be on his guard. He didn't want Owen to suddenly appear and get the drop on them. He wasn't worried about himself, but he absolutely couldn't let anything happen to her. Not after all she'd been through.
They walked inside and he grabbed a cart.
"What are we getting?" Mila asked.
"Bed stuff, towels, food." He was trying to remember what wasn't there. "I'm going to end up back here again in the next few days."
Shopping with her turned out to be fun and he bought more stuff that he needed. If she liked it, he bought it. They shopped for a few hours and Ethan could see that she was really getting tired. "Let's get out of here."
