Isaac opened his eyes slowly, groaning. His head ached, annoying him. Why did he have a headache? Someone was sitting across from him, and he blinked a few times to clear his vision. His gaze focused on Mila. "Mila?"
She lifted her head. "Isaac? Are you awake?"
"Yeah. What's going on?" He asked, glancing around the room they were in. Both of his hands were cuffed to the wall while only her good one was, the other still in the sling hanging from her neck.
"Owen," she said with a sigh.
"Where's Riley and Ethan?"
"I don't know," she said softly.
"Okay. Tell me what you do know," he said patiently.
"We were in the dressing room when the door was pushed open and Owen came in. He hit Riley in the head and grabbed me. That's all I remember until I woke up here. I wish I knew more," she said.
"Have you seen Owen again since we've been here?" Isaac asked her.
"No. I've only been awake for a bit," she said.
He nodded. She at least seemed calm for now. Her safety for the time being would have to be his first priority. If something happened to her, it would destroy Ethan.
"So can you get us out of here?" she asked.
"Not yet. I think there's wolfsbane in my system," he said quietly, annoyed. He couldn't feel his wolf at all.
"So what does that mean?"
"It means I'm disconnected from my wolf. I have a headache for the first time in my life," he told her and saw her eyes widen.
"Oh."
He saw the worry creep in then as she thought over what he'd just told her, and he gave her a reassuring smile. "It won't last forever."
"But if they give you more?"
"Eventually it won't affect me," he told her.
"How long until that happens?"
"I'm not sure. Depends on how much I've already had." It would be nice if they told him, but that wasn't likely.
They both looked up as the door opened to the cell, and two men walked in. One of them stopped and crossed his arms over his chest as he stared down at Isaac. "Well, we meet again."
Isaac frowned at him. "We've never met." He was fairly certain he would remember this guy if he'd seen him before.
He laughed. "I think we did. Back when you challenged my Alpha."
Isaac stared at him oddly. "I think you have me confused for my brother. Is your nose that bad?" Why was it so difficult for some people to take the time to recognize the difference between his and Ethan's scents? If they were human, he could understand, but any werewolf should be able to tell them apart immediately.
The man frowned at him. "Bull. I saw you. I talked to you."
"Nope. We've never met. I've been in Greece for the last year. If you're talking about Alamo, that would have been my brother, Ethan. Wrong twin," Isaac said with a small smirk. Idiot.
The man looked at the other man. "What did you do with the other one?"
"I told my friends to make sure he died. His scent was all over Mila. He has to pay for touching her," Owen growled in anger.
"Are you the one that beat the crap out of her?" Isaac asked him. Owen didn't know how lucky he was that he wasn't Ethan. Isaac would probably just break his neck. Ethan would rip him to shreds.
