"Have you dreamed about her?" Noelle asked, looking back down at the ledger.

Ethan looked up in surprise. "Why?"

"It's common before you meet them or when you're apart from them and you haven't completed the bond yet."

"Did you?"

"Yes. Before Alex I dreamed of Nick but only once. That was rather... shocking."

"What about Nick?"

"He dreamed about me as well; he just could never see my face," she said.

"I dreamed about her last night," Ethan admitted. Had he. She'd been naked in his dream, and he had made love to her right there on the forest floor. He had dreamed about her before that as well, though he hadn't seen her face either. It was nice to have a face in his dream. A beautiful face.

His thoughts drifted back to the real version and how she'd looked standing there in front of him. Absolutely gorgeous. He couldn't wait to spend more time around her, to really talk to her and get to know her. Not just a, Thanks for bringing me water.

"Ethan!"

He looked back up at his sister. "What?"

"Please tell me you're not sitting over there fantasizing about her," Noelle said in exasperation, shooting him a glare.

"No." Well not exactly. He hadn't gotten that far yet.

"Liar," she muttered.

"I was thinking about her, but not fantasizing about her, Noelle. Not in the same room with my sister," he muttered in exasperation.

Alpha?

Yes?

We're picking up the mulch at three this afternoon.

Oh good. Thanks for letting me know.

Still coming?

Like he'd miss it. Of course.

See you then, Alpha.

Thanks, Ezra. "Well, three pm, I'm going to go pick up more mulch," Ethan told Noelle.

"And you'll be counting down the seconds," she replied, not looking up.

"Were you like this?" he asked curiously.

"The situation was totally different, But honestly I was obsessing about Nick before Alex, like I knew he truly was the one," she admitted.

He looked up at her in surprise. "Did you know?"

"No. But I was very attracted to him. Things happened between us," she said softly, a smile on her face. "Before I knew he was my mate."

Ethan nodded not really sure he wanted to know more, but right now his sister was the only one he had to talk to really. He didn't know a bunch of details about the early stages of her relationship with Nick. He just knew that Nick had been her second chance because her first mate hadn't worked out. He knew why. And frankly, he thought Nick was the better choice anyways. He couldn't imagine them not being together. They had been together since right before he'd been born. Almost twenty-five years.

He hoped that one day it would be like that with him. Ethan and whatever her name was. Anytime someone thought of him, they'd think of her or the other way around. Today he was going to find out what her name was. He was asking. He needed to know. Hopefully she'd tell him.

A knock sounded at his office door and he stood to answer it. A man stood on the other side, his Stetson in his hands. He bowed his head. "Alpha."

"Hi. What can I do for you?" Ethan greeted him.
