Alastor POV

While it's true I have no liking of mongrels, Y/N is... different. The way she is able to separate her hatred for me while she words is commendable. And yet unlike the others that would have perished by my hand from using such a tone with me, she continues to live.

She spoke so professionally to me earlier, yet her tone was soft. I couldn't help but stare at her as while she poured my coffee. Her behavior was so different from how it had been earlier. It was gentle, caring, comfortable. Something only close friends of mine had treated me with. And of course Charlie, but she was that polite to every pathetic soul down here.

Apparently I had been looking for too long and scared her off. Such a pity too, I was hoping to apologize for my behavior when we met. "Just call the desk if I can help you, sir," she said before she shut the door. The sound of her heels scurrying off to her desk filled my ears. As the sound got quieter and quieter, I was left with my thoughts.

I looked at the stack of papers and began sorting through them, signing them in the order she had taken the time to out them in. I got through half of the stack of papers before setting down my pen and leaning back in my chair.

I looked over at the clock and took a deep breath. Dinner would not be for about an hour and Y/N's shift had just ended. I decided to take this time to go and apologize for my ungentlemanly behavior. When I walked to her desk, I was a bit surprised to see she wasn't there. After all, her shift had just ended. "Hmm where could she have run off to already?"

"She went to her room. Leave her be for a while, she's talkin' with Angel." A familiar drunken voice spoke from behind me, causing me to snap my head back to look at him.

"And why are you not the one he ran to?" I spun my body around to fully face him, "it is to my understanding you two are rather close, are you not? Shouldn't you be his knight in shining armor?" I motioned with my hands, "take him to your room. I would like to speak with Y/N." Of course, he had no choice but to obey and began the walk to her room.

I followed silently and stood beside the door where she wouldn't catch view of me. I could faintly hear her comforting the spider in a soft and comforting tone. Husker hesitated to knock on the door, not wanting to interrupt the two. So I took it upon myself to help and knocked for him, returning to my position immediately after.  "Who is i-" her voice cut off when she opened the door. "Oh- uh, hello Husker."

"Is uh... is he in there?" She didn't respond verbally, making it difficult for me to know what was happening. "Would he maybe want to come to my room?" Before long Angel left the room and the two walked down the hallway talking quietly. I heard her door close again and took my place in front of it. I knocked on the hard wood and the door was quick to begin opening again.

"Back already? Jeez if I didn't know any better I'd say you're obsessed with me," her voice was playful. Assuming she thought I was someone else. Her eyes met mine and the teasing smile on her face fell. "Oh shit-" she cursed and attempted to close the door, yet I simply held it open with my hand. "What do you want Alastor?"

Her voice was cruel and unwelcoming. It made my blood boil thinking of how she talked to everyone else politely yet treated me with such ill manners. Though, hopefully after this I would be in that list of people. "I'm glad you asked my dear, may I come in?"

"No." She stated flatly, making my eye twitch in annoyance. Why did she have to be so difficult. But, if I wanted anything to be different, this was going to have to be something I had to keep my cool over.

"Very well," I cleared my throat. "I would like to apologize for my behavior yesterday my dear, I'm not very fond of dogs and it appears I made a very hurtful comment to you and set us off on the wrong foot." She looked a bit taken back by my apology, though I believed it to be a good sign and continued. "I would very much like to wipe that slate clean and start anew! What do you say dear?"

Her expression was a bit blank she thought to herself. Humming to fill the silence. I extended my hand for her to shake when she accepted my offer to reconcile. She ceased her thoughtful buzzing and took a small step back, smiling at me as she slammed the door in my face.

'Did she just..' I huffed in anger, static filling the air around me. Instead of sticking around, I descended into the shadows and appeared in town. I desperately needed to let off steam and this seemed to be the quickest way to do so.

Did her action make me want to stop my will to get closer to her? Preposterous! In fact, it only fueled it more. She was making me chase her. Forcing me to hunt for her forgiveness. And who was I to deny such an entertaining chase? After all, I did always love the thrill of chasing my prey before I sunk my teeth into them. She was only making the experience more enjoyable for me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Drenched from head to toe in the red iron scented liquid, a painfully wide smile plastered on my face. I traveled through the shadows, appearing in the lobby where I found the others setting up the picture box.
Y/N was there, speaking to Lucifer of all people. She stood in a tank top and shorts that I thought were far too short. Her tail was wagging back and forth, her laugh echoed through my ears. I couldn't understand these feelings of mine, but seeing her stand so close and hearing her laugh with him made my blood boil. "I'll be right back, I want to grab some popcorn before we start the movie."
The moment she turned, we made eye contact. I watched as the excitement left her face and her tail's movement halted. Her eyes scanned over my blood soaked body. Her shoulders lifted in a sigh and she motioned her head towards the kitchen. Of course, I followed her. Purely interested in what she could possibly want after being so rude to me before.
We came to a halt in the kitchen, I stood quietly waiting for her to speak. "Look, Alastor," her tone wasn't as venomous as it normally would be when speaking to me. "I didn't think what I did was going make you react like this," she motioned to my body. "I... guess I can forgive you this time. After all if we're going to work together and all it's best if we don't hate each other so much." I opened my mouth to speak, interrupted by her own voice, "but, understand that this doesn't make us friends. If that's something you want, you're going to have to work for it."
"I understand my dear," with a snap of my fingers, the blood was cleaned off of my body and I appeared in my silken maroon pajamas. With a flick of my wrist, a bowl of popcorn appeared in Y/N's arms. I smiled at her and we walked side by side into the lobby.
"Alastor? I thought you hated modern technology like this?" Charlie spoke.
"While I'm not fond of it, I believe this is a nice way for us all to bind with our newest staff member," I took my seat on the cushion next to Y/N. Lucifer sat on her other side, Charlie and Vaggie cuddled up to each other on the other couch with Niffty on the last cushion, and Husker sat with Angel on the floor. "Now, what are we watching?"
"Bambi." I was a bit surprised to hear Lucifer answer me. But decided not to think too much of it. Y/N gave me a somewhat sympathetic look afterwards, though I wasn't sure why she would do such a thing.
