On a warm and breezy spring day, the big university campus was bustling with life as far as the eye could see. Everywhere you looked, there were students of all shapes and sizes, all engaged in a variety of activities. Some were rushing to their classes; their faces furrowed in concentration as they tried to make it on time. Others were laughing and joking with their friends, enjoying the sunshine and the freedom of being on campus.A few were throwing frisbees or kicking soccer balls around, their carefree energy infectious and uplifting. And still, others huddled in small groups, poring over textbooks or scribbling notes in their notebooks, their minds entirely focused on their studies.
On the grass field, one girl who looked worried while reading her notes was sitting alone. She flipped through her notes with her brows frowned - maybe looking for something.
Mon: Ah, found you!
She clapped her hands together happily, as she had just discovered something extraordinary. She then began writing in her notebook with a big smile.
She didn't even notice when a girl joined her!
Yuki: Mon!!!
The blonde sat beside the brunette, who opened her arms widely to welcome a friendly hug!
Mon: Hey there, best friend. Where have you been? I've been waiting for a long time now.
Yuki: sorry, honey bee. I got caught up with some assignments and forgot that you were waiting.
Mon: I forgive you; it worked out for me anyway. I needed to finish this project for psychology class!
Yuki: How is that going? You told me you were having trouble finding the notes and staying focused!
Mon sighed loudly and looked elsewhere - like she was trying to gather her thoughts/feelings.
Mon: It's okay now... I mean, I missed a few classes because of... you know. But I got it! I talked to one of the students, and she will give me the notes I need.
Her friend hugged her on the side, caressing her hair...
Yuki: You got this, honey. Leave everything in the past now and focus on yourself.
Mon: I am trying, I am, Yu... but, every time I remember her, my heart aches... I feel like... as if it was my fault!
She tilted her head down, trying to hide the tears insisting on coming out. Yuki gently used her index finger to bring her friend's head back in place while he wiped her tears.
Yuki: Hey, nothing of this is your fault. You did your best. She's not worth your tears and your love. She doesn't deserve you, and I'm not saying this just because I dislike her. But I am here for you, always.
Mon hugged her friend tightly and mentally thanked the universe that she at least had her by her side. Her best friend, sister, and soulmate.
Mon: Thank you, Yu. I didn't know what I would do without you in my life!
Yuki: and that's why I'm here to tell you that it's time to move on and embrace life confidently. It's our last year of college, Mon, and we'll soon embark on adulthood. Let's make the most of our final year here and put our "College sweethearts" mission into action.
Mon let our come chuckles after seeing her friend's excitement peek.
Mon: You are a doll, Yuki! I will try, I promise!
Yuki gave her a genuine smile.
Yuki: Great, because I already have someone in mind for you.
Mon raised her eyebrows while looking at her best friend...
