After receiving the devastating news of their best friend's passing, the two friends were left reeling in shock and disbelief. It felt like a heavy weight had been dropped onto their hearts, leaving them completely lost and unsure of what to do next. They sat in silence for what felt like hours; each lost in their own thoughts and memories of their beloved friend. The weight of their grief was palpable in the air, and it took them a few hours to even begin to process the reality of their loss. Every moment felt heavy and complex as they struggled to come to terms with the fact that their dear friends were gone, forever.

It was an unimaginable scenario, something that they would have never thought possible in a million years. The reality was a sad one, a stark reminder of how unpredictable life can be.

After calming down, they spoke with the police to seek closure on what had really happened - Unfortunately, a massive truck lost control. It crashed into Tee's car, causing a terrible collision. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was completely wrecked!

Police: Their child is currently in the care of Children Protective Services.

Mon: What? Why CPS? Zoe was home!

Police: They usually handle cases like this. Some of the officers visited their home to share the news, and we found that the babysitter was underage. We thought it was best to take her away for the night, but don't worry. After figuring out her caregiver she will be taken home. Do you have any idea of who that would be?

Mon: I don't know... I never talked about this with Yuki... I-I don't know...

Sam: Tee has some close cousins and aunts around. But she also never mentioned anything about this.

Police: I understand. We don't have to worry about it today.

Mon: Can we see her? Can we see Zoe? She's probably so confused.

Police: I understand; however, it's already past midnight. We should wait until tomorrow! Their lawyer will meet with you tomorrow morning, and you both can ask him questions.

Mon: but... she's just a baby...

Mon's tears began steaming again as she thought of how little Zoe must be feeling at this very moment. Her heart aches for Zoe!

She was still processing everything, losing her best friend, her sister. Now, she would have to also deal with a tiny human who wouldn't even understand anything about what was happening.

Zoe will wake up tomorrow and not see her parents... for the rest of her life! How terrible is that?

Mon let out a loud sob, and Sam held her hands tightly, understanding more than anyone what probably was going through Mon's head.

Police: I am sorry. This is all very unfortunate. I suggest you two go home and try to get some sleep. The lawyer will be able to help you two tomorrow.

Sam: Sure, thank you.

Sam swallowed the big lump that had inhabited her throat ever since this whole nightmare started. Sam doesn't cry... she doesn't remember crying. The last time she cried was when she lost her grandma, and that was years ago!

She was struggling to keep herself composed. The last thing she wanted was to break down in tears. A part of her was still hoping that when she woke up the next morning, it would all be revealed as a terrible dream.  Tee would return her calls and yell at her for being late to another morning meeting, but Sam would always distract her by asking about little Zoe. It usually worked, as Tee was deeply in love with her child and being a mother. She constantly bragged to Sam how lucky she felt to have met Yuki and built their family.
