It had been a few hours since they arrived at Cane's house, and everything was going great - well, sort of! Zoe andTom - Cane, and Jane's son -  hit it off well. Tom, or Tommy as everyone calls him, is such a sweet boy! He's just a few months older than Zoe but seems to have a knack for being ahead of the game. He was so gentle and looked after Zoe while they played together, filling Sam's heart with joy.

Sam was enjoying her time at her friend Cane's house. She watched with a warm smile as Zoe effortlessly engaged with Tommy, her vibrant energy making the backyard come alive. The expansive yard was a treasure trove of toys, with colorful slides, swings, and piles of plush animals scattered everywhere. In one corner was a charming little playground meticulously designed for Tommy, complete with a miniature climbing wall and a sandbox brimming with golden sand. It was clear how much Cane and Jane cherished their son; every detail of the yard reflected a love for play and adventure, making it the perfect haven for kids to let their imaginations soar. Sam felt a sense of contentment, watching the pure joy on Zoe's face as she "ran" around after Tommy.

On the other hand, Sam couldn't shake the nagging feeling that Mon was not entirely comfortable in their current situation. Despite her repeated inquiries, asking gently if Mon wanted to leave or if something was bothering her, Mon only smiled politely and insisted that she was fine. However, Sam couldn't help but notice the slight tension in Mon's shoulders and how off-quiet she was, betraying an unease that her words didn't convey. Sam felt a growing concern for her girlfriend, wishing she could break through the facade and truly understand what was on Mon's mind.

Mon-sat quietly, barely engaging with her surroundings. If she had uttered ten words since their arrival, it would have been a generous estimate. Her eyes remained fixed on Zoe, taking in her every move, and occasionally, a small smile would break the silence on her lips. When Cane spoke to her, her responses were brief and to the point, lacking any genuine enthusiasm. On the other hand, Jane made a concerted effort to spark conversations between the two, even offering to make drinks, but Mon denied it immediately.

Sam couldn't help but notice that Mon's gaze was firmly fixed on Zoe, deliberately avoiding Jane. There was an unmistakable tension hanging in the air between them, and it piqued Sam's curiosity, and she wasn't sure if Cane noticed it too. She found it puzzling since she was confident that Mon and Jane had never crossed paths before today. Or had they? A whisper of doubt crept into her mind, igniting her intrigue.

Sam felt a sense of anticipation as she watched Zoe radiate happiness and enjoy the moment with friends.

Although she was happy to see Zoe enjoy the afternoon, she couldn't wait to get home and ask her girlfriend what was happening.

Cane: Sammy, I need to show you the motorcycle I got last week.

Sam: You got a new motorcycle? Don't you already have enough?

Jane: Tell me about it. I tried to convince him otherwise, but here we are.

Cane let out a few giggles as he stood up.

Cane: It's one for every week, and this one is different. Think of it more like an investment, babe. Come, Sammy, follow me to the garage.

Sam stood up but froze, looking at her girlfriend, who was quietly watching Zoe.

Sam: Hey babe, I'll be right back, okay?

Mon nodded and gave Sam a short smile before turning her head to face Zoe, who was currently playing in the sandbox with Tommy.

Cane: It won't take long. I will get your girlfriend right back to you, Mon. Jan will be here keeping you company.

Cane and Sam dashed excitedly toward the garage, leaving Mon and Jane behind and the kids playing in the sandbox.
