The change in temperature is drastic, I knew Alaska would be cold compared to California but I wasn't expecting this. I can see my own breath and my nipples are rock solid against my top. The coat i had dressed in isn't nearly enough. I have never been as cold. Ludo is shivering, he also looks mad. I should have taken his advice and packed a suitcase and made plans but I had said we should be spontaneous and just leave with the clothes we had on our backs. Ludo had collected a coat, a pair of boots and his passport from his home before we sped to the airport.
We had purchased a few items at the airport but we were not prepared for Alaska. We are going to freeze to death at this rate. Ludo arranges a hotel and I message my family to let them know I will be away from home for a few days.
Ludo leads me to a cab and before long were on our way to our home for the week.
"You two are not prepared for Alaska, should I take you to the mall" the cab driver asks.
"Please" ludo and I say in unison.
The views through the window are breathtaking, it's like nothing I have ever witnessed before. Everything is so peaceful, I can feel a little of my pain chipping away. I needed this, looking over at Ludo I can see that the amazement on his face is mirroring mine.
We leave the meter running and insist the cab driver accompanies us to the mall so he can help us to prepare for this challenging environment. Ludo hands him a fist full of hundred dollar bills so he knows that the cab fare will be paid. We buy everything from toiletries to warm clothes, we even buy swimwear so we can enjoy the hot tub and the heated swimming pool.
It's been a long time since I've had a vacation, for the last year I have spent all my time caring for Ark and launching my fashion brand. Now really isn't the best time for me to leave LA but I cannot continue the way I am, I need a break.
Once Bob our cab driver declares that were suitably prepared he drives us to the lodge where we will be staying. It's small and secluded which is just what we need, Bob suggests we hire a car so we can get around as there is nothing around that we can reach easily by foot. Ludo arranges for him to collect us in two hours so we can hire a car and do a grocery shop.
The lodge is just by the lake, it's very small but it's beautiful. The inside is just as nice as the outside, it's open plan so all rooms other than the bathroom is one. There's only one double bed in the lodge and the sofa is too small for either of us to sleep on.
"Looks like we're sharing a bed"
"I'll take the sofa" Ludo says quickly.
"Or I'll sleep on the floor" he adds
I roll my eyes "we can share a bed, you can't sleep on the floor you will freeze"
I put my hands on my heart and smile " I promise I will try my very hardest to be good girl and not make any inappropriate advances on you"
Ludo smiles "do you promise not to snore"

"Ludo what are you doing" I walk into the kitchen and he's stood in just boxers drinking milk straight from the carton.
