Chapter 5

Awaking in the morning was like rolling out of a coffin, my head is pounding from the effects of the red wine last night and there are no tablets stashed away in the cupboards. Instead I had to settle with downing a glass of water before heading to my lessons of the morning. Sitting in the middle of the class was Ivy and Beth, the two of them deep in conversation about something or over. "So what did you get up to last night?" Ivy asks as I glance at the two of them, my cheeks flushing red.

"What are you trying to imply." I giggle as the two of them share a look.

"Tell us." Beth pleads as I smile turning my body so I can explain the whole story properly.

"Well I went back to the apartment after I had the doctors visit, and there was this white box and inside was this beautiful dress with a hand written letter from Rnyar inviting me out to dinner. He is such a lovely man, and we had a candle lit dinner with steak and wine." I stated as Beth beams with joy.

"He sounds lovely Z." She states.

"Oh he is! He told me all about his village and growing up."

"Sounds to me like your in love already." Ivy reports rather dryly causing me to glance at her.

"I would be in with him to if he brought me a fancy dress and took me out to dinner." Beth reports back defending me. However the conversation was drawn to a close at that point, as the teacher steps on the wooden stage clapping to gain everyone's attention.

"Good morning class. As I am sure you are all aware todays lesson is on birthing on board the ship. This is very important and I plead you all to pay attention as it will come in handy in the future. For those of you that are quick on your toes, you will be birthing on board the ship. We have dedicated a very special labour ward that can host four women in labour, of course if you would prefer home births will be allowed."

"What are they going to let us go back to earth to deliver." Ivy remarks snickering causing the teacher to glare towards her.

"For those of you who will be pregnant when we land, there are birthing facilities on our planet, these are located in our hospitals, which are all close to the homes that you will be allocated at a later date. In your homes one of our nurses will visit you in your new homes to conduct checks throughout the stages of your pregnancy and after baby is born to ensure they are meeting the milestones. They will be closely monitored as milestones will be different to human ones." The teacher states as a small mummer rips throughout the class.

"No one has really explained what are the milestones for our children? Do you guys really know considering that there has been no children born of both human and your kind of species?" One of the women asked sat near the back. The teacher glances in her direction before pausing slightly.

"We have been studying your species for many years, we have trialled half blood children from all planets across the universe, but earth children and the only compatible children. We currently have a hundred children that have reached numerous stages of life, many have become successful warriors for our planet. However the milestones are very different, because of our species genetics babies are often born much larger, this means that birth will be more painful however our medication has been created to help reduce the pain, as well as reduce tears." The teachers states causing the cause to stir. Whispers echo around the classroom, the distress and annoyance on all of the women's faces.

"So instead of pushing out out a nine pound baby, it is going to be twenty fucking pounds." Ivy states angrily as I laugh.

"Ivy it is not going to be that much bigger, it still has to fit out of our vagina." I say as the teacher claps her hands trying to regain the classes attention.
