𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐕𝐀𝐍 𝐆𝐎𝐓 back to Alexandria, Devin and Leo were the first to run over as Glenn got out the back, helping Kai not put to much weight on his injured leg. "Are you okay?" Devin asked, concern in her voice as she wrapped Kai's other arm around her shoulders and placed her hand on his chest to keep him steady.

"Don't worry about me. Tara's hurt way worse." The blond mumbled sounding absolutely drained.

"Where's Noah?" Devin asked, nodding for Leo to help the others with Tara.

Kai shook his head, his jaw tightening. "Nicolas got him killed. . . he's gone." He bitterly told her.

Devin's eyes widened. Noah was dead? In a weird way it felt like another part of Beth was taken from the world. She took a deep breath and shook away the thought. She needed to worry about Kai at the moment. "We need to get you to the infirmary and look at your leg. Come on." She softly said.

𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐋𝐄𝐎 𝐖𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃 Kai's leg up—luckily it wasn't broken—He helped Devin get Kai to her house and into her room. They decided he'd have more peace and quiet there since Dane and Daryl were both out with Aaron, Willow and Duane was staying the night with Carl and Sam was at Eloise and Mel's. . . and well, Javi stayed in his room most of the time.

Currently Devin was in the kitchen making Kai a peanut butter sandwich. He told her he wasn't hungry but she wanted to make it just in case. She didn't seem bothered when the kitchen's back door opened—figuring it was Rick— and it was.

She shook her head already knowing why he was there. "He needs to rest. That's why we brought him here instead of your house. It's too noisy over there."

Rick sighed and leaned against the counter. He was still in his uniform and he seemed exhausted. "Deanna said I need to question him. . . find out his side of the story. I don't have a choice. It's what she wants."

Devin rolled her eyes and went back to spreading peanut butter on a slice of bread. "He and Glenn watched him die, y'know? He doesn't need this tonight. If Deanna has a problem with that, she can take it up with his lawyer." She muttered before tossing the butter knife into the sink.

"Lawyer?" Rick raised an amused brow.

The redhead crossed her arms and turned to face him. "If she wants us to be “civilized”, she better be ready for me to act that way. In the old world people got lawyers, you don't get to see him unless you're seeing him as his dad who is worried about him and not the cop that wants to question him. . . to make him relive what he went through tonight."

The Grimes man stared at her for a moment. A look of pride in his eyes. "Alright. Fair enough." He nodded. "Better get that on up to him." He pointed at the sandwich.

Devin nodded. "Yeah, thanks for stopping by." She sarcastically muttered as she put the food on a plate.

Rick smiled a little. "Thank you, for taking care of him." He told he before walking towards the door.

"Hey." Devin said and he looked back at her. She softly smiled. "Don't thank me, he'd to the same if it were me. . . he has done the same."

Rick nodded once more before walking out the door.

Devin sighed and grabbed the plate before making her way up stairs toe her room. When she walked in she saw Kai laying on her bed, his shirt thrown over the nightstand and soft snores filling the room.

She quietly sat the plate on her dresser before walking over to the side of her bed and sitting down. Kai stirred in his sleep and she glanced down at him. "It's just me." She softly whispered, brushing a strand of his blond hair away from his forehead.

His eyes fluttered open and met hers. "My leg hurts." He complained, his bottom lip pouting slightly.

Devin tried not to laugh. . . she really did, but the way he said it made her break. "I'm so sorry. . . I'm a terrible girlfriend, I shouldn't be laughing right now." She wheezed, her face turning red. "Can I get you anything?"

Kai wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to lay beside him. "Lay with me. You being here is enough."

"I can do that." She whispered, moving her head to lay on his chest.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆, Devin went straight over to Glenn's house, wanting to check on him. Glenn didn't say a word as she sat down beside him on his and Maggie's bedroom floor. They sat in silence for a few minutes until Glenn spoke up.

"Does it get easier?"

She didn't have to ask him what he meant. . . She already knew. She had watched Beth and Hershel both get killed, Glenn hadn't been there for either of the deaths, Noah was the first one he witnessed dying.

Devin sighed, she wasn't sure how to answer. . . but she would try, for Glenn's sake. "When Rick killed my Uncle Shane right in front of me. . . I knew it had to happen, but I still thought I'd never feel like me again. . . but, I did, almost too soon. I felt bad for getting over it so fast—" the girl paused, leaning her head against the wall.

"And with Hershel. . . I don't even know what to say. Everything happened so fast after that, I don't think any of us got to mourn him properly. . . but Beth—" Devin took a shaky breath. "I haven't figured out how to be okay with it. Sometimes I don't feel like a person anymore. . . it's like sometimes I can see myself being happy but then there's this voice telling me I don't deserve to be happy."

Glenn slowly nodded. "I know what you mean. . . I felt the same way about the prison after all the people we lost." He sighed. "Beth wanted Noah to make it home. . . we got him there and there was nothing left—"

"Then he became a part of our family and we got him here. Beth wanted him to find his family. He might not have found his blood family, but he found a family that loved him as their own."

"But now he's gone because of Nicholas." Glenn said bitterly.

Devin nodded. "Yeah. . . he is." She sighed, shaking her head. "I'm not sure if I believe that there's a heaven anymore. . . but I do believe that if there is a heaven, he's there with his parents and his brothers. . . Beth too and Dale. I bet Dale, Hershel and him get along great."

Glenn let out a tearful laugh. "Dale would've loved this place."

"T-Dog too. He'd probably of used up all the hot water this place has, and oh my God, Carol would stay making cookies, because, shit, Dog had one crazy ass sweet tooth." Devin said and the two of them laughed.

"Oh! He would also make fun of Carol's new outfits." Glenn added.

Devin nodded. "She dresses like my kindergarten teacher Mrs. Gretchen. . . but oddly enough reminds me of a teddy bear— don't tell her I said that."

Glenn laughed, shaking his head. "Don't worry, I won't, because she'd quite literally kill you and. . . I don't want your blood on my hands."
