Chapter 19: Revelations and Awakenings

Sabo hummed to himself as he saw the Whitebeard main ship come into view. He was happy to be back, it had been too long, and in that time he gained stories to tell Pops, Thatch, Ace, and the rest of the crew. He could hardly contain this excited and happy feeling. Ace would be so happy at his news, he knew that, and then they would go visit Lucy together. They would be reunited finally. Maybe Ace would stop torturing himself now, finally stop being haunted by what they always called 'Lucy's ghost'. There was no ghost. She wasn't dead.

That fact alone brought a fresh batch of tears to his eyes, though he only allowed them to mist his eyes. He wiped them away with the back of his sleeve and grinned when he heard the calling of his nakama. He waved his right arm back and forth, calling back to their cheery and loud voices. Sabo smiled and threw them the rope to his single glider, allowing them to tie it off. He disappeared and reappeared on the deck by their pops.

The old man was drinking heavily already, his nurses scolding him for doing so by the looks of things, but that had never stopped him before, and it wouldn't now or in the future. "Sabo…you finally returned," Pops said and put his drink down, greeting him with a smile. This made Sabo happy, he had never had a prominent father figure before, and so it was nice to have it in Whitebeard.

"Ah, Pops, and I've got some things to tell you. Though obviously I haven't found Blackbeard…but is Ace here?" Sabo asked and looked around the deck of the giant ship, but couldn't see his brother. He could've been sleeping though, Ace could sleep through practically anything, even the raucous calls of their division.

"No…Ace hasn't returned…nor has he been answering his calls," Pops told him with a deep sigh of worry, no doubt thinking about his troublesome brother and his fiery attitude. Sabo deflated, he wanted to let Ace know first, thinking it right to do so. Lucy had meant so much to Ace, they had both cherished their little sister like no other, even more so then each other. And now that Sabo had a chance to say definitively that Lucy was alive, and out at sea as a pirate sailing towards her dream…well it would be something that would make Ace so happy. Sabo knew this, because it's what he felt.

"Sabo!" A familiar and nice voice cut off all of Sabo's thoughts of Ace and Lucy. He turned to see his partner walking on his own two legs for the first time in a few months, and it reminded him of how long he'd been away. He took long strides towards the fourth division commander and hugged the grinning man, smiling into his neck and realizing he was crying. It had been far too long. Thatch's arms encircled him as well, and they stayed like that for a moment before pulling apart.

Sabo leaned back and slapped the side of Thatch's head. "Look at you up on your own two legs and walking all by yourself," Sabo commented teasingly and grinned. Thatch himself snickered and sneered jokingly back before kissing Sabo on the forehead.

"Yeah, yeah, well you're not the one who had to be strapped to a wheel chair for a few months by those harpies. You have no idea how glad I am to be up. But…something's different about you…you seem ecstatic about something…do you have a new recipe for me to try out?" Thatch asked excitedly, and Sabo felt a little bad at not getting one for him. Lucy's cook wouldn't have minded most likely.

"No…but I've got something else I've got to share with everyone. I wanted to tell Ace first…but I can't hold my tongue and wait for him to return. Not when I'm practically bursting with so much pride," Sabo said and dragged Thatch over to Pops, and to where all the other commanders were all gathering now. Sabo reached into his pouch when he stood before them all and grabbed her bounty from his bag. It was rolled up and so was the newspaper article about Crocodile. He unrolled the bounty first and showed it to Pops. "Her names Heartfilia Lucy, her real name is Monkey D. Lucy, and she's Ace's and I's baby sister, Pops."
