Chapter 20: Sky Island and the Hyena

Lucy had enough of their laughter, she didn't care if this man and his crew and the rest of these horrid louts didn't believe it existed. She had enough of them putting down people with dream and thinking themselves so mighty. But they were so far from being on her level, and their mockery was unfounded and pathetic. Their attempts to break her will only made her stronger, and despite their challenges Lucy would not fight them. They weren't worth her fists.

She faced down the ring leader, Bellamy, his tongue lolling as he laughed. "I pity you, the way you think and your crew," was Lucy's first statement, which immediately quieted the bar as Bellamy stopped laughing and glared at her. "Go ahead and mock me all you want, but it doesn't change what I feel or what I fight for. I'm not afraid of your criticism or your mockery, or by failure. But you on the other hand Bellamy...you're such a coward. You are afraid of being laughed at, so used to laughing at others. You won't dream just because it may not come true...so what? Do you think that this 'New Age' of pirates will last long without people who dream? Those who don't dream do get stronger, don't go farther, and will fall before reaching the summit. You will fall, and I will continue to rise...

"Your ideas are crap, and your need to use violence to...support your thoughts, gain followers, only shows how unsure your 'people' are of this. If you have to resort to violence and have no other means of depicting your views, then they're weak and fragile, and none of you are sure of them yourself. And men without strong ideals that they feel sure in, are just soulless pawn. So let me ask you...are sure you believe what you're feeding others?" Lucy asked and brushed past Bellamy on her way out of the bar. Nami and Zoro were walking out behind her and when she got to the saloon doors she faced the gaping crowd and said her final words to them. "And no one had ever proved that Sky Island doesn't exist."

Lucy turned on her heel and pushed through the doors to the streets. The day had started off with a ship falling from the sky and Lucy finding a map of a place called Skypiea in the galleon that had fallen. Robin had proceeded to tell them about Sky Island, or the legend of it, and Lucy decided she believed it, this was the Grand Line, and the log pose wasn't broken. They had discovered Jaya after Robin had stolen the log pose from a crew of salvagers, after the sky had mysteriously gone black, and large monsters had appeared in the sky. Upon reaching Jaya Lucy and the others had gone hunting for clues on a way to Sky Island, whereupon they had been laughed at in that bar.

"Oi, little girl," a dark and evil sounding voice called behind them and Lucy turned and remembered that she had been trying to get out of the bar and to the ship after seeing this man. She had to tell Sabo. Blackbeard was in Jaya. Lucy also realized that Sabo had never told Lucy about his power, but she could sense it coming off of him in waves, and it was making her itch and break and she had to get away from him. Now. Lucy turned her back to him and sped walk away and to Merry.

She hopped back onto the ship and took in several calming breaths while she tried to summon her sword to her. The crew was giving her weird looks as she did this, but she needed to do this or something bad would happen. That man was too potent for her at the moment. Once she was stabilized once more she looked to the crew her were looking at her in a worried manner.

"Lucy...what's wrong?" Nami asked and tilted her head, and Wendy came up to her and nuzzled into her stomach a bit, trying to soothe Lucy. Lucy held onto her sword and wrapped one arm around the little girl's back. Her crew was looking at her, and Lucy thought now would be a good time to tell them.

"That was Blackbeard, the one who attempted murder on Whitebeard's ship on my brother's boyfriend. I recognized him from a picture my brother showed me of him, so that way I could tell him if I saw him...but my brother never told me that Blackbeard had the power over darkness...the one element that can make me go crazy. I am a neutral mage, my magic is balanced, not light nor darkness. I can handle light though, most mages use light magic...but darkness I can't handle. My sword seals my dark power away that I was exposed to upon becoming a Celestial Dragon.
