Chapter 12: A New Age Begins at the Beginning

Lucy awoke when an alarm went off in her head, telling her that it was time to get up. It startled her for a moment before remembering that she had asked Horologium to do that. Sending a thank you through her mind Lucy got up and brushed some of the dirt off of her, and then exited the alley where she had been sleeping and decided to try and find her way back to the platform again. She didn't bother to change, Smoker and all the marines now obviously knew what she looked like. But it seemed like the people around here didn't care about her that much as she strolled down the street and relaxed. She just let her feet carry her, not really going anywhere and letting her instincts take over.

It seemed that those instincts led her further into town where when she looked round she saw Zoro on the stairs to the right. She quietly and sneakily walked towards him till she was right in his face. She laughed when he jumped a little in surprise. "Hey, Zoro, seems you got yourself two new swords. That's good," Lucy said and sat down next to him and picked up the black one that was new.

"Ah, captain, I got them both for free as well. This one is cursed, and so when I bought and went looking for a new one he brought of his family heirloom for me to take," Zoro explained before looking her over, seeing her dressed how she normally was. They were supposed to be blending. Seeing his curious and appraising eyes Lucy laughed nervously.

"The marines and I had a little scuffle. The Captain here….he's stronger than anyone I've faced. He can keep up with me. So there's no point in hiding myself anymore," Lucy told her first-mate who sighed, realizing that this new fact was going to disturb the peace a bit. But Zoro liked the fact that he didn't have to hide anymore. So he placed his two new swords in his waistband and then unwound the bandages from his hand before dropping them to the ground. The mark of Fairy Tail now able to be seen by all eyes. Lucy smiled and stood up.

"How strong is he? I know you're stronger than anyone in this sea," Zoro asked as he turned to face her. He noticed how she was excited about the fact that there was someone on her level. He knew she liked to fight, and he assumed all these East Blue people were boring her. He could tell, she was itching for a fight even now. She wanted to go looking for this Marine Captain, wanted to fight with him.

"He's a Marine Headquarters captain, his name is Smoker, a fitting name since he had a devil fruit that allows him to be smoker. He's a logia user. We fought for a bit, neither one of us using our abilities, and he's good. He's fast and strong, a soldier among soldiers. He isn't half bad looking either...sorry now what you really care to hear," Lucy chuckled sheepishly when Zoro gave her a look that clearly told her that he didn't want to hear her say that. Nor did he really care for her taste in men. "Anyway, he's a challenge. And I'm really unsure about how to deal with him. It was a bit of a stand still, and then he let his logia abilities appear….I can't touch him. Technically he's air, so technically if it came to it….I could eat him….but I'm not really comfortable about giving into the cliche of Dragons eating people….and that would just be weird to eat someone. But I know, before we leave this island, I will have to face him again. I can feel it in my bones."

Zoro nodded his head, understanding that his captain wasn't nervous to fight this captain despite her unlikely hood to win. She was still revved up for a fight. She wanted to fight. But he could tell she understood that they all wanted to get to the Grand Line, and facing him again...may ruin their chances of getting near the place. All he could do was stop any other marines from trying to interfere with her fight, and let her deal with her own battles. He was beginning to understand that like him, Lucy was still coming into her abilities. She was still learning. And it seemed she had a lot to learn still. If there were more Logia types out there she would need to learn how to fight them. Learn how to defeat them. And so would Zoro and the rest of the crew.
